Google out sells iPhone....

The whole Microsoft vs. Apple war starts again. This time, it's Android/Google. Wonder how long before Apple releases a remake of the 1984 commercial -- maybe, 2014? 30 years later would be a nice round number. Or maybe, Google should remake the commercial with Jobs face on the big screen with a bunch of Apple fanboys sitting in black turtlenecks watching. Have a green Android come running in and throw a DROID (it's a brick) into the screen while watching Job's face blow up in a huge electrical fury!

Couple of reasons why though. They have alot more styles of phones and carriers to add to there victory! pick one phone and one carrier might not be so pretty. I do believe android has alot to go on and that is open source baby. All the roms and themes you can pick from. Thanks to all the devs that work hard to give us a smooth clean operating phone!

That's cool but two things to keep in mind...

1) Apple only has ONE phone on ONE carrier
2) iPhone sales are going to jump way up when 4.0 comes out this summer

Well, they have 3, soon to be 4 phones, sales will jump because everyone will get on the bandwagon again, not to mention outside the US almost every carrier has it, the major 3 in Canada do (Rogers, Bell and Telus. Although Rogers had it for about a year longer than any other company in Canada) But we also have to remember that "Android" isn't a specific phone, its the software running on an array of different platforms, from cellphones to televisions. Not to mention Symbian still has the most devices out there, and RIM is still numero uno for those business types

First.. thats apple's choice.. and in its own way.. its a very good movie.

As for number 2.. not really :/ sure a few hardcore fanboys are watching with major interest...

But, Most people don't really care.. Unless this new OS breaks the bank.. 9/10 people aren't gunna be persuaded..

I work in retail.. Do you know how many people just want an iphone? Its not about what it can do, its not about how powerful the phone is.. It is a status symbol. It is something people want so that others will look at them and go, "that person is cool because, they have a phone which can do anything!" So sure.. you may see a surge in iphone sells for a minute from the people who "must have" the newest iphone (since odds are the next iphone will be released about the same time)... However, your average end user probably doesn't even know what iphone os is :/.

Verizon and T-Mobile are giving Androids for free with 2 for 1 family plans. So people are not actually buying them, they are getting them for free (and selling them on ebay). If Verizon had an iPhone to offer, Android and Blackberry would be way behind the iPhone.

Yes.. people are buying them :/ even if they get them for free with a contract the cost of the phone comes out of the contract :/.

If SPRINT had an iphone I might have to agree with you..

But, lets be honest here.. once iphone gets on more carriers.. its going to get to a point where everyone has one.. and the image it has held for so long of being an "exclusive, cool, rich kid only" toy is over...

In my home town... they sell iphones more than regular phones.. because, everyone in my home town can afford it..

However, I really don't care. I want to see android do well. If apple gives android competiton.. then GOOD!

I hate apple.. but, if it can push google and other manufacturers to develop way better phones, that is fine with me.

Let apple fanboys/fashion whores have their precious iphone.. I will be too busy playing robo defense to care.

Ummm, it's a major OS update to what is arguably the most popular phone of all time AND it's an Apple release. That's pretty funny you think only a few hardcore fanboys will care. You probably also said the iPad would never sell too right? Lol

3 things:

The only thing anyone knows about the iPhone 4.0 OS is that it adds some of the features that android already has, and it does this poorly.

Android has had these features from the very beginning.

If the phone is being outsold, then you really can't claim it is the most popular phone. It once wa, but that time has passed.

It probably is one of the most popular phones ever..

However, I sell iphones... I promise you, 9/10 (or more) customers don't care about the iphone itself. People want the iphone because it is what their friends have, and it is flashy.

Sure there are some apple geeks who do care about OS updates.... However, you are lying to yourself if you think very many people even know what an operating system is.

I am not trying to bash iphone users here because, most people probably don't really know what an operating system is..

I can attest to this. I sell phones too, and 85% customers are swayed by what their friends have, I mean I sell blackberrys to people who only want them because of BBM, even though they have unlimited SMS. People pay 200$ for an iPhone when I offer them a free galaxy. Its all hype.

Thats offensive to lemmings. Their very smart creatures whom had a bad rap by Disney propaganda

I agree with you completely.. I am soo tired of hearing about iphone from customers who think its the greatest thing ever.. Oh well.. Edit.. I think this is where a lot of my apple hatred comes from... Customers who walk in head over heels in love with iphone.. and then won't listen when you explain how another phone is better. Oh well, No point in losing sales over it...

Pretty much, I'll point out all the upsides of other phones, and if you read your customer properly sometimes an iPhone IS the right thing for their needs. That being said at least half of my customers just want the iPhone because of being told they want it. In the end, if they say they want an iPhone I'm not going to skip a sale because I prefer other phones.
