So apple will retain a single carrier exclusive for 2 more years, giving Android even more time to become the defacto industry standard and introduce ever increasing higher spec phones and tablets, for cheaper prices, and under a wide variety of manufacturers. Is anyone else not understanding apple's strategy here? I mean, it was one thing when there was no valid competing standard, but now there is and it is in many ways superior. Allowing that standard free reign to develop further only seems, to me at least, like the kind of move you wouldn't want to do if you want to remain the market leader.
It seems to me that the best way for apple to give Android a black eye would be to make their system available in the biggest carrier. yes they won't be able to rape Verizon the way they have ATT, but overnight the market for the Iphone would increase dramatically, and one hopes, so would the carrier service.
Sometime I have to wonder what is going through Old Steve's head. What do you guys think?
