Can't Change lock screen using Nova Launcher

Nova itself isn't a lock screen app as it is meant only to modify your Home Launcher experience. TeslaCoil, the company behind it, makes a lock screen app called Widget Locker. There are others out there as well. Going to the Play Store page for Widget Locker will point you to similar apps. I used Go Locker for a while, but like the stock lock screen with the caption for now.

You can do it although it is very obscure: hold on a page to change the wallpaper; touch the wallpaper icon bottom left; slide bottom images to the left until you get to "Apps and Themes"; touch this; touch wallpaperpick...: on top left touch "Home Screen" and then pick "Lock Screen". Yikes - they could have made it simpler!

What specifically does Nova Launcher not change? I think I can remember using it on my S4 ages ago and it didn't change the settings menu, for instance, and that looked very odd in contrast to all the nice new "stock" icons.

Hi Susan :)

Was looking for the answer but got lucky myself. Try this...

Enable your original/standard launcher to change wallpapers.

Make sure you go through full phone settings

Go to settings > display > wallpaper > home and lock screen.

Choose your wallpaper. And they will match.

(Or, do what I do and pick two that compliment each other so it looks like a transition.)

Then...

Re-enable your 3rd party launcher (guessing Nova). Wallpapers will be the same.

Good luck

@Trishpointoh I didn't quite get by your post if you wanted to change the actual lock screen or simply the wallpaper.

If it's the lock screen function, you'll have to try different locker apps until you find one that actually works to your liking, you may have to try several.

If your phone is running Lollipop or Marshmallow, don't bother with TeslaCoil's Widget Locker. It hasn't been updated in 3 years, and it only works on KitKat or earlier.

I experienced same issue. What I did to clear lock screen wallpaper (Google Nexus 5x, Nougat 7.0, stock device (not rooted):

1. Backed up my Nova settings in Nova app (to restore later)

2. Uninstalled Nova

3. Google Now launcher became default launcher

4. Pressed down on screen to launch "Wallpapers, Widgets, Settings" choices at bottom.

5. Tap Wallpapers, chose desired wallpaper for lockscreen and then the Google launcher prompted: Change: Home screen Only, Lock screen Only, Home and Lock screen. Chose Lock Screen.

6. Reinstalled Nova and restored settings.

7. It worked.

However, must acknowledge this was the only workaround I could find without extensively searching the web, factory reset, etc.
