Just saw this was posted up at Engadget but sourced from Androidguys with plenty of new updated pictures for all of us @ 7:05pm (ET)- Take a read and enjoy, should keep everyone calm until tomorrow night but...

not liking the special plans thing though, seems as if we are in for a plan change, even those with Unlimited data plans if true this is going to put a big kink in sales if you ask me ... I am gonna assume they are gonna put everything for this phone into one big bundle of a plan (hotspot, and everything else so its all included)

But one good thing to add to the feature list, FM tuner built in is a go! hmmm I wonder what else is hiding for us tomorrow!

didn't rebella say that the 'new plan' was a purely internal code to designate the phone in the sprint systems and was not an actual payment plan change for the consumer?

That's what it looks like to me, just internal plan code changes and has nothing to do with money. The hotspot is the only thing that they are "thinking" about charging for, which hopefully they decide against near the release or sooner.

To me, the "pricing code" sounds no different than last year when the PRE was released.

Any one buying a launch day PRE had to change plans to one of the Everything plans, as I remember doing this. It should just be involved with the Evo needing high streams of data usage....so it shouldnt be able to be applied to a basic phone plan.

Sure it sucks for old time customers, that have had a basic dirt cheap plan for years...but I think its a sacrifice for the Evo, and as long as its on the $69 plan, then you still are paying cheaper than most of the US.

That's good to hear, I'm already on the everything plan and if I can keep it with the EVO I'd be very happy.

An FM tuner is pretty much the least exciting thing about this phone. Or any phone. The radio sucks.

But for the rest of us it may be a good thing.

I just purchased a 2007 Infiniti M35x which doesn't have any external media player connectivity. Being able to load all 8GB's of my music onto a 32GB SD card and then transmit it to my cars radio via FM tuner would save me money on buying a Zune or something (never an iPod) and the associated connections.

EDIT:

You don't need a FM Tuner to do that. The FM Tuner is for listening to radio on the device. You will need a FM Transmitter (which would plug into the headphone jack of anything) and transmit to a certain station on your radio.

A direct connection (if a car audio place can add one to your stock stereo) will get you MUCH better sound.

The phone has an FM Tuner, not FM transmitter.

Oh. haha. I got owned.

Thank you for clarifying that haha. I've been reading so much about the transmitters that I totally missed that. Well, back to trying to find a solution for my car.

FM tuner can be very nice. I had one in my Zune (before it was stolen ) and it was nice for listening to public radio, college radio, sports, etc. when I didn't feel like listening to anything in my collection. Sure, you can stream most of that stuff over 3g/4g but I would guess that using the FM radio would not use as much battery power.

If it is done well, songs will be identified and links to purchase will be provided.

This is just an idea, but what if perhaps Sprint is simply changing the labeling of the plans around for preparation?

It has speculated that some years from now, Sprint will begin offering data-only plans, since VOIP will being to become more standard and widely accepted.

Perhaps this is just sort of the stepping stone for them to transition to future plans later on.

Its pretty common for sports stations to be on FM now. 97.1 The Fan (ESPN Affiliate) in Columbus, for example.

97.1 FM in NY is actually a top 20 rap/r&b/hip-hop station

And if you think about it, this is just another reason why the battery has to be huge on this phone, think of all the strain from using the tuner, or watching HD youtube vids, etc ...
