A few issues (hardware)

After getting my Desire, I've picked up on a few issues regarding the hardware.

Firstly, the speakers:

My speakers seem quite poor. I can't have the in call volume right up as it seems to distort and sounds awful.

I tried loudspeaker and it was also really bad, anything over half and it "crackled" badly and wasn't brilliant at all, so I doubt I'd ever use loudspeaker.

Also when using Google Navigation, the voice distorts on loud volumes, just like loudspeaker in a call. It's understandable, but far from perfect.

Secondly, the screen:

I have noticed, more so when web browsing, that when there is a line of text, behind it is a light grey box which is the height of the text, and it goes across the whole of the screen, left too right. I'll try get some form of picture if my description is poor.

Another thing I have noticed is pink pixels around letters. I'm not sure if this is a problem, or to do with anti-aliasing, or because of the type of screen.

Can anyone say if these are problems and if I have a faulty device, or if they are normal?

Thanks.

I dont think the loud speaker is like most other devices.

Having played with the Google Maps UK nav, the speaker sounds clearest when against (or very close) a surface. Certain makes the sound clearer, and richer to me.

Makes me think it's of a type that is intended to be used with the phone flat on a table etc.

Yes its true just walked up the street carrying Desire on a table, sounds sweet ,dont know why i didn't think of it before:eek:
LOL, your Desire buyer isnt the average chav and his mates playing their phone on loud speaker on their way to rob the off'y ;)

Not that I'm saying you're a chav, just an observation of the kids round here playing their phones on loud all the time.

I noticed that too. It's like a streaking/ghosting of the lines. I was kind of disappointed to see this, especially since the screen was hyped so much. Hope they fix it... and send me a new one! :D

Have you sent it off or anything?

As for the speakers, I tried playing streamed music from Last.fm (no music on my Desire yet!) and the quality seemed better. I'll have to put it down to call quality.

I have dust under my screen too, only visible in direct sunlight, so here in England, I'll never see it :p

Don't have anything like that on my phone. Played with brightness settings etc to be sure but nada.
