Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

All of the critters here aren't mine but I've had them for years and years and years. The kid did have them with him for a while but then started moving around a lot due to work and school so here they are. I don't mind, I like them and do barely have room for them. When I bought my house I calculated for them. I didn't calculate for the birds and gecko my sister "gave" me. My lunatic cat-lady friend got furious at me recently because I wouldn't take a feral cat from her. It could live in my garage, she was sure it could. Um. NO.

I feel for you Dngr. Ugh. Hopefully things will settle down soon and you'll get your space back...

I was reading something in today's paper & they said something about how "Minnesotans are". It kind of bugs me when I read things like that, because really, how do they know where the people in their sample are really from? Tons of people who live in MN are from other states, just like other states have people who have moved there.

I've lived here my whole life, & often those stereotypes about us don't fit me at all.

I think those stereotypes are dumb. [emoji35]

Is one of those "Minnesotans are thin-skinned"?

JK... I get the same way whenever I hear about crazy-stupid crap, which is always in Florida.

I swear to Bob that we didn't have all those crazy people when I lived there.

Facebook rant:

They added that silly "here's some old thing you posted" & people keep republishing them on their timelines. So it's not enough that I "liked" your post a couple years ago, now you want me to like it again? Nope, not gonna do it.

That's when you say things like "Oh wow, you were so thin in that picture!"

Rental car companies. My car's in the shop and I got a crappy rental from Enterprise as a "loaner" while they work on my baby. Well the "only thing they had" when I was in there was a KIA Minivan (not terrible but not great either). So I take the darn thing and they then try all the insurance crap on me, "oh spend an extra x number of dollars for this or that or the other thing" Um NO. Then I get in the darn thing and drive off and I kid you not, all 3 wiper blades (2 front one rear) are horrible and will not clear the window AAAANNNNDDDD the inside of all the windows are horribly dirty. UGH.

This is why I never use Enterprise when I rent a car for myself, each time I have gotten a car from them through the dealership I have worked with for years I get this kinda BS.

No rental car company is great but some are at least decent (get a good car in good shape at a reasonable price) but not Enterprise.

But hey - "they'll pick you up"
[emoji14]

I had a rental years ago when my car was being fixed. When it came time to return it, my then teenage son followed behind me in his car. We had to turn right at a red light, he assumed I'd just blow through the light but of course I stopped, & he hit the rear of the rental. Of course I didn't get their insurance (which would have covered the minor, but noticeable damage). It was a lesson that cost him a couple hundred dollars.

The only time I took out their extra coverage was years ago. I was traveling a great distance with two children in the back seat. I was betting on there being more damage to the interior of the vehicle than the outside.

I rented a car in old San Juan Puerto Rico. I did not get additional insurance then. That's like going into the deepest darkest jungle without immunizations. (Look it up, folks on that island have NO IDEA how to drive or park - in 10 days there I saw 2 cars that were not beat to hell.)
I didn't need it then so why in God's name would I need it now?
UGH

I'd like to meet the designer of the RJ45 plug and ask, did you test this by unplugging the thing once, and thinking - yup, that's job done?

Got a new kitty. She's been living under the couch since Friday though, hardly showing herself. I want to see her pretty face, play and cuddle.

So our youngest (newest) kitty (Jinx) was very reclusive when we got him. We always set up a room for a new kitty so they can hang out in seclusion and get used to the smells of the other animals and vice versa. Now during this phase we barely saw him and would have to actively search for and recover him from under a dresser or the bed. I was very worried he was not going to be a good fit for the house because of this, worried he was too reclusive.

After 2 or 3 days we let him out into the house ... he has since become the king of this castle and is easily the most social kitty I have ever had.

Ahhhh the mystery of kitties.
