Why Android market increase so slow?

Latest news,Android Market contains in excess of 10,000 applications, 35.5% of paid apps, 64.5% of free apps,See below figure. Although without doubt 10,000 applications is a considerable catalogue, 148apps.biz is reporting that 76,085 applications are currently available in the Apple App Store.

Why android market increase so slow? please write your comments, we, starlipse, as a professional android outsourcing service provider,we have talked with our consumers, most of them think the cost can not be recovered. do you think so?

Its not that Android market is slow. Its only been around for little over a year.

That other "market" has been around a lot longer.

But the apps on the Market are literally gonna Rocket in the Next year or 2. Think about it:

So many phones are coming out with Android , Not to mention Various devices. This is where Android is gonna make it's mark and it's name by Mass marketing and having a storm of devices with Android on them.

The Hardware that's coming out with Android is not bad either. We already know of 2 phones {maybe 3} that have Snapdragon and other 1GHz processors. Not to mention any more in the works.

All these Factors are really gonna attract developers {likely away from the iphone} with Powerful devices and a Well known, Reliable & Popular OS with plenty of users : Android!

The android market platform has not hit a critical mass yet, but it will soon. The wide choice of phones coming out on the wide choice of carriers happening at the same time the android OS is beginning to mature will have significant impact on the app market.

Rather than put a simple pie chart showing free/paid apps, a bell curve showing apps over time for winmo, blackberry, iphone os, android, symbian, and web os would be a more accurate representation of app development for mobile phone platforms.

Like others said Android hasn't exploded yet, the iPhone has a huuuuuge amount of exposure so of course it has more developers. With Verizons big marketing campaign for Droid it should attract more users and developers, plus better hardware and graphics acceleration will make for better usability of games. Give it some more time and we will catch up.

OK, so where can you see all these? Newbie considering for the Droid, and searching every link I can find, and most of it is crapola, sorry to say. Or is it only findable on the phone? I'm used to quality apps in the Palm world, and was hoping that some reliable companies were in the game and not just teen boys out of the basement. Not that I have anything against them!

You can use your laptop/desktop to search applications without having an Android phone. Here is the Android market from Google:

And since this is Android and open, there are alternatives such as Cyrket who make it easier to search from apps "from the comfort of your desk."

Wow, to call this disappointing isn't even close. One Bible program, and it's King James. A couple card games...Docs to Go, but doesn't tell you how to sync your docs...some of these don't look well done, either. I thought this market had matured some. WebOS is in better shape than this, and it's only existed since, what, June?

Sorry, this kills me. This could kill the phone...we need apps. And I don't need fart apps.

I think the online (PC) markets dont have every app out there. I know that if I dont check the market every couple of days, it can take a long while just to scroll through the new ones.

The best way to get a look at the apps is to go into a phone store and try out a phone there. I how ever didnt do that and was not dissapointed.

OK, tanks, I won't give up hope, yet, then. But the honeymoon is already over! Was actually driving and wondering if should just wait for the Pre to get to VZW...maybe I better see the Droid and what apps there are.

I believe Cyrket has them all, but the android market shows only the *top* apps. User the search function on Cyrket for the types of apps you're looking for and see what comes up.

Dont forget that most of iphone apps are useless, I think theres one that every time you think about that app, you have to click it, and it keeps count of how many times you clicked it....

Most of apps are useless and trash, I'd rather have more useful than have 75k crappy one's...

You need to borrow an Android phone and check out the market, there ARE literally thousands of apps. I have spent many hours browsing the market and have been very impressed. I come across something new and cool everytime I visit. You won't be disappointed trust me. And its only going to get better.

A sweeping statement I know: but here in the UK at least, I would hazzard a guess that iphone users have more disposable income than Android users.

We seek a better deal on all levels (tariff, handset, apps) whereas they just enjoy the convenience of pressing and getting.

I found a recent comscore report showing iphone users, income, and percentages. It also shows smartphone growth has been 12% overall, while iphone specifically is 21% growth.
