So I bought my HTC Hero late last night (Around April 23rd) and I just got the e-mail from Sprint that the HTC EVO comes out on June 4th.

While I am going to Sprint tomorrow to talk to them about it, I was wondering if they would let me trade in my phone within the 30 days, pay the $35 fee or whatever, and then wait the 2 weeks (phoneless) and get the EVO.

Is that possible? Or does Sprint make you get a new phone on the day you trade it in?

As much as I like my Hero, it is quite slow, and the bigger screen the EVO has definitely has caught my attention.

Definetely return the Hero before the thirty days is up and get the new HTC EVO. You can do what IOWA said and make sure you get your upgrade eligability back. If you have to buy a cheap Sprint phone off Craigslist and activate it when you return the Hero. Since the HTC EVO has a confirmed release date of June 4th, I would DEFINETELY NOT waste my upgrade on any other phone. Period. Ofcourse you will have to spend more cash to buy the EVO, but you can save the $100 rebate by buying the EVO at either Best Buy or The Shack instead of buying it at a retail Sprint store. There is no rebate to worry about at these locations like there is at Sprint stores. The EVO will cost $199.99 + $100 at the Sprint store totaling $300 plus tax. At Best Buy or The Shack, you pay $199 plus tax but no $100 rebate bs. Your choice.

The EVO is gonna spank the iPhone's naked @zz!!!
