For The Record, Gizmodo Can BL*W Me

This was posted about 10 minutes after the announcement. Is this not what your talking about?

Sprint Evo 4G Will Have Two-Way Video Chat, Goes On Sale June 4th For $200 - EVO 4G - Gizmodo

Yeah..thats the 1 post.
My point is there has been nothing else. No breakdowns, comparisons. Nothing regarding potential impact, etc, etc...

If it were an iPhone launch there would be post, after post, after post talking about anything and everything. I generally don't flame but this really pissed me off. I've been out all evening for work, I happened to catch a little bit of the news at the start of the launch but was expecting to come home tonight to read all the tech blogs and get info, opinions and whatever else. Gizmodo was one of my top sites and when I checked it...nothing, scroll down... nothing, scroll down...oh look the 1 post about the newest, "greatest" mobile device in the country. Really?! That's it? Nothing else? NOPE.

And apple had the swat team raid the gizmodo's editors house too lol..

I am so with you on this sentiment. The self feeding reporting/advertising loop Apple has is an amazing phenomenon to me. I was so pissed yesterday expecting to find good new information about the Evo, and I hardly see a peep from Gizmodo, and others. What a complete let down. As mentioned some credit is due to Engadget.

I'm going to pick on Gizmodo for a bit, since I'm most familiar with them. If anything this an excellent case study in bias. A lot of tech blogs really missed the boat on this and to me, speaks to their technical prowess. Are they true gadget heads, or just Apple fanboys? Apple certainly isn't giving them much reason to be so biased.

I'm not expecting full front pages of Evo news (like Apple receives), because that's frankly boring, but they should give some credit. The Evo is a competitor.

Also now that I think of it, two more observations to throw out there for wild speculation:
  1. It seemed the Incredible received better coverage from the tech sites, so is there some form of payola going on? This is an on-going watch.
  2. How convenient that another iPhone 4G was found yesterday in Vietnam (and now France?).

Just saw a post over there from Jesus Diaz (who may be the biggest apple fanboy over there) blasting Jobs and Apple's take on censorship, so perhaps the Apple grip on them is loosening a little. I suppose that happens when a company kicks in the door of the editor.

But I prefer Engadget myself as well, though I do have both on my RSS feed.
