I'm currently a sprint user, rocking an LG rumor. This means I share minutes and texts with my dad and that's it. Upgrading to a data plan was going to be very costly, considering he would have to buy into data as well. The 10 dollar charge made it even more of a stressful situation and I was about to give up. Then I realized something that nobody is giving sprint credit for, puts them in a price range that bests the competition, and happened to save me from the fear of not being able to purchase an EVO.

After reviewing the possibility of removing myself from my dad's plan and getting on a plan of my own, I saw that I could do it for $80 a month, including that $10 fee. The limitation was that I would be downgrading my minutes to 450 per month. That is, until I saw the AnyMobile, Anytime that's included with the everything data plan. Unlimited calls to any mobile phone means that my 450 minutes will only be used on land lines and while roaming. This deal is perfect for me and was incentive by itself for me to pay an extra $10 dollars a month.

Now I'll be getting everything, with unlimited calls to any mobile phone, for $80 a month. That deal in itself is unbeatable, for me. I hope many of you worrying about whether or not to switch to sprint will find salvation in the AnyMobile, Anytime offer as well.

I'm not thrilled about the $10 dollar charge, but I take solace in the fact that it'll still be the cheapest alternative for me out of all the major carriers.

I just hope 4G comes to my area within the end of year, otherwise it feels like I'm paying extra for not much.

Because as it is right now, I share a limited amount of minutes on a non-data plan, with unlimited texting, and I pay $50 dollars a month. Everything Data is giving me unlimited mobile to mobile (which is 99 percent of the calls I make anyways) and unlimited data with EVO for only $30 dollars more, which is an absolute steal.

I'm also contrasting this to when I tried to buy a droid on verizon. I had 450 minutes, with texting and data for $90 dollars. I went back because I couldn't stretch the 450 minutes with my job, and I couldn't get signal at work with verizon. So compared to that attempt at getting into the smart phone market, I'm getting unlimited mobile to mobile, coverage that actually works, and 4g connectivity for...10 dollars less? The 10 dollar charge just doesn't phase me at this point.

I don't see how this concerns other people's minutes? What this means is that you, as a sprint customer, only pay sprint for minutes used towards land lines. No other cell phone company does that. It doesn't imply that you are going to call your friends more.

If you switch to Sprint, there is a good chance you are leaving the network your friends are on, since their market share is relatively small.

So, say you are talking to your friend on Verizon, and you have Verizon, and you are talking limitlessly and happily.. Now, you switch to Sprint so you can have Anytime Mobile.. now your Verizon friend starts having to use their minutes.. pretty soon, they are going to hang up so they don't go over their minutes.

The other carrier's minutes act as a limiter.. did you notice they don't allow free landline calls? There's no minute limits to act as a limiter.

Ok, this actually makes sense now. It's completely situational. For me, going to a data plan saves me money and gives me more features, as opposed to switching to verizon or ATT which would cost me more and get me less. In a situation like yours, while you may be able to spend 10 dollars less (if we compare the same plans), you go from free verizon to verizon, to free for you but costly to your friends, meaning your usage is capped by their minutes.

I have said from the start, however, that this is specific to me, and that I hope other people can benefit. I'm sure there are plenty of verizon users who could switch to sprint, pay 10 dollars less, get more for themselves, and don't really talk to any particular verizon customer enough that their minutes act as a barrier.

So 3rd largest carrier is relatively small now?

And the Any mobile, anytime is a godsend. I haven't had to worry about my minutes since. I rarely go over 300 minutes on a 1500 minute shared plan.

Well you figure your $69 unlimited just became a $79 unlimited and add your taxes (sprint and local town) and insurance so your looking at about $90 a month now, its def getting high almost to the point of the $99 unlimited (something i wonder if they really want people to switch to with the 10 extra)

Yes they do. However, you would be better off buying at best buy. All the rebates are instant instead of mir and the bb insurance is better IMO

And they would just laugh at said person and say choose a different device then. Nobody's forcing anybody to purchase the Evo4g. The people who do, are aware of the extra $10 to be able to use the device.

At some point in time people have to realize that paying more isn't worth it anymore. No doubt that Verizon has the most users but at some point in time I have to do whats best for me, not all of my friends. What would actually be smart is if all of my friends wised up and decided to save some bucks themselves and come over with me to Sprint. They're the only ones left suffering paying more, not me. Its a win win for me

on the whole friends thing......stay with tmobile and keep your friends happy and pay more overall, or move to sprint, get an evo, and pay less overall. does it really matter how all the money is broken down if it all still gets spent over the lifetime of the phone and plan contract.

Ok I been with sprint for 12 years, so I’ve been waiting on a good phone from sprint for awhile. Now I will not see 4G in my area until next year..hoping, so I’m stuck with 3G but most of the time its crappy 1x where I live in this several block radius in the middle of Detroit. So for the same crappy 1x data I have to pay the same as someone who is in a 4G area and getting their 4G rich experience.

Let me get this strait, $200 to buy the phone and a two year contract(which does not seem to be good enough anymore for these greedy cell companies), and $10 a month or $120 a year lease on top of that just to have the EVO… that will only work when I am in my own wifi or a hotspot.

First it started with MINUTES and contracts, then they started forcing more expensive plans on you just because you want a particular phone(when I got the Palm Pre, my data experience was no different from when I got the Htc Mogul in 2007, yet they force the more money plan on you claiming a better experience), now they are forcing a phone premium, just for you to own the EVO.. Just for you to hold in your hand! Where does it STOP, where is the regulation to draw the line!

Now I plan to get the phone when it comes… like I said, I’ve been waiting a long time..but if my so called “EVO rich experience” is no different than my Samsung moment experience.. Im taking it back and perhaps changing carriers! Going basic.. Metro PCS!
