So one thing I'm not a big fan of is the vibration settings. Is there any way that I can get it to have longer vibrations or more than the two short pulses? I miss a lot of the notifications when my phone is set to vibrate (yes, vibration mode is necessary while I'm in class). My BlackBerry gave me the option to have short, medium, long vibrates, and how many.

I installed this app (Smart Vibrator - Android app on AppBrain) and it works great. Doesn't work for emails but works well for sms/calls, and you can customize the patten. It also has a reminder function so if you dont check your message right away it'll vibrate every 3 minutes until you acknowledge the notification.

+1

You can create your own vibrate pattern which is very cool. Make it as long as you want.

Might have to check this out. I just installed Sound Manager today as can be read here: http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/74126-no-notification-msg-arrival-when-vibrate-mode.html

But this sounds even better!

Just downloaded it but don't see an option for the Reminder Function. I looked at Settings and there are only options to turn it on/off for SMS and Calls. Where do I find this?

From the main android screen, hit 'Menu', go to 'Settings', push 'Accessibility' and check the top 'Accessibility' box. That should now enable the 'Smart Vibtrator' check box which you can now click and you should be set!

Will give this a try.

I've got Missed Call installed and really like the way it works. I found myself missing my vibrate/sound notifications due to the DIs weak vibrate and only 1 vibe/sound cycle. Missed Call has several options for vibration patterns as well as sound notifications. Give it a look.
If this works, I might jump thru the computer and kiss you!! U have NO idea how much i miss my BB, due to the horrible WEAK Dinc vibrations and personalizing ability of profiles! UGHHH!!

WIll try it and report back :D

Ok so Missed Call seems to be working. But I have a question. When I get an SMS, in the notification bar it says "Unknown" along with the message. As opposed to the person's name. Is there a way to fix this??

Yeah, it says that for me sometimes as well but once you go into the messaging app ( I use the stock app ) it will show who it's from. It's not that big of a deal for me but I can see how it might irk others.

The trade off, for me, is that I get multiple notifications if I happen to miss the first one ( which happens A LOT ).
