Im back!!! True story

Hey guys sorry if im wasting a thread but im just so excited i had to share! so about a month ago i went over to the darkside and traded my hero for the bulky ugly moment...i thought the keyboard would help...it didnt. first let me say stock android is SOOOO BORING! only 3 screens and not extra widgets?! welli was stuck with it! the keyboard was pretty lame and the supposed "faster processor" the moment has must not be that much faster cause it was pretty slow to me! also sliding between screens took alot of effort and was not smooth at all! another thing! who makes a phone without a LED notification light!!! well anyways i was able to trade back via craigslist turns out it was with the same person i traded with originaly so i got MY original hero back! and she even gave me a bodyglove case she had bought! anyways i just wanted to say im glad to be back and have my hero back!! the hero is a way superior device!

I am not anti hero but going from a moment to a hero is a downgrade. One I made as a family member needed a good phone I cashed in on m sprint premier got a free Hero and then gave her the choice of the hero or the moment she wanted the hw keyboard so she got my moment. I think that part of my dislike for the hero is the awful senseui.... some of the widgets are nice but the dialr lay out and button placement are just bad.

I will agree 1.5 on moment vs 1.5 on hero you dont see the benefits of the extra cpu power. 2.1 on the moment blows alway 1.5 on the hero, I have not had time to root the hero to put one of the custom roms on but to be really fair I should just stick the RUU on , as I am only running DD03 with the moment with out any mods to it.

So I plan on rooting the hero to pick up a custom rom that has a decenter dialer pad and no god awful sense or limited sense as I do like the media player and weather/clock widget

you're right, 2.1 on the Moment will blow away 1.5 on the Hero. But 2.1 on the Hero compares very well to 2.1 on the Moment, and I believe the official versions will perform very similar, with the Hero being a tiny bit slower but having far better widgets and networking connectivity (which the Hero already surpasses the Moment on, by far)

I liked the bulk of the Moment, especially with a case. Made using the keyboard easier and made it more comfortable to hold (caveman hands here). That and I miss being able to set my fingers on the phone when I was typing something and had to stop and wait for a reply or something of the like. Also made emulators easy.... oh well. Hero has less phone breaking bugs.

after the maintenance rls. that addresses the battery drain problems (e.g. awake time, messaging problem, etc.), my wife's moment goes farther on her battery than i do on my hero. back away from the kool-aid sir. :D.. they are both good phones.

no kool aid...just my experience with the phone plus alot of others over on the moment forums thanks...

She said she could not get use to the all touch screen aspect of the phone. As soon as i got my hero back the touch screen is way more responsive and the htc keyboard is way better than stock android. i use to think i hated this keyboard but after using the stock android touch screen this hero keyboard rocks especially the ability to calibrate it! also she said she didnt like the 7 screens because it was too many and she couldnt fill them up..

I have a Hero...My Wife has a Moment.. she got the Moment because of the hardware keyboard she thought she had to have. She gets jealous of my Hero, with all the screens and all the SenseUI widgets. But would always tell me that she can add a replacement home, but I can't add a keyboard.

Then I introduced her to Swype. now she never uses her hardware keyboard. The only thing she can claim is better now is the flash for the camera... 2.1 on the Hero rocks.. No idea about the Moment on 2.1 since she doesn't want to root her phone...

.
even after the maintenance rls. that resolved the battery problem? i know there is a discrepancy in how batt life is reported, but that MR should (and I think did) solve the battery problem. Like I said, wife's moment gets battery life than my Hero, no BS.

oh yeah :p

no not really. in fact, i've done some testing of the two. taking off the charger at the same time; she goes to school, does a medium amount of surfing, texting, etc.

me: barely nothing. just sitting idle.

she'll have 20-30% more battery life than me at the end of the day.

that maintenance release (cl14?) really made all the difference.

I've read about many things that could be causing it. some think it's the HTC clock widget, others say various other things are the battery hound. I've changed settings, I used home screen toggles and leave everything but mobile on and have tried a dozen things here or there... negligible difference.
