$35 5G data plan

I read that rogers is offering a $35 5gig data plan for the ipad. I don't want to talk about the ipad or the 'scandal' of rogers going back on whatever they said earlier. For the rest of us we can get a 1G plan for $35 and would have to go through hell trying to get *only* that plan. Can I now get a $35 5gig data only plan? I don't understand why it makes a difference what kind of device I want to put it in.

no doubt there is a deal going. But 5 times the data for the same money the rest of us pay is crazy. People get upset over one time cost benefits for jailed phones that new customers get but my problem is the ongoing cost differences. But I haven't read the details since it is too late for me to care anymore but I'd love to get that data plan if I could. I have the SIM but don't want a voice plan.

I can't see how 5gigs on an iWhatever is any different than 5gigs on anything else. Nothing to see at R except even more stupid plans at very high prices. And what is "Unlimited Social Networking"? Somehow they track if you're going to certain places or via certain apps and that data is unlimited? good grief that smells rotten to the core and the opposite of neutrality in the future. I can likely kiss voip goodbye sooner or later.
I might give them one chance at a data only sim activation for the same price as an ipad when it is available. There's got to be some strings attached to the iMess deal or it will get messy for the rest of us wondering why.

On a related note to being ripped off by Rogers, I just did a price comparison with Telus, and I can get 2x the data and all the same calling features I have now (yes, even my5) for $20 a month less.

If I bought out my Rogers contract to the tune of $400, and took my LG Eve and signed up with Telus, I would be ahead of Rogers' cost less than 2 years after switching.

When is Rogers going to wake up?

Oh damn...if that plan was a phone data plan, we'd almost be paying the same as our American counterpart. I would get a data plan if I know I'm getting my money's worth. $25 for 500mb is a big FAT RIP OFF!!!

Well it is official, pre orders are up and there is a $35/5gig plan with no contract. People are complaining that there isn't an unlimited plan but I agree with rogers on that one, unlimited isn't practical. But I want the same deal, data only 5gigs for $35. Still high but way cheaper than what the rest of us get from the same provider for the same thing.

It isn't much cheaper down south, we both get screwed in different ways. I could live comfortably in a 5 gig data only plan. No need for a voice plan at all.

I'm paying $50/month for the phone and 500MB data. I was told that its only another $5/month for another 500MB.

I'm not all *that* worried about the pricing (or needing more than 500MB) but if I can pay just a little more for 5GB instead of 1GB I'm definitely swapping out! Even if I don't use it all I can probably find some way to use more (streaming radio and video!)

In August 2008 and August 2009, Rogers offered 6GB for $30/month with a three-year renewal. Perhaps they'll offer it again in August 2010? Rogers typically has their best offers in the late summer as they try to sign up new college and university students.

WOW...I'll definitely keep out an eye for that! lol
