So yesterday morning my dad's Incredible started doing random reboots out of nowhere, nothing would seem to make it stop. Finally it booted up normally, and we were able to get into the home screen. Thinking it was just some glitch, and that was it, the screens just started to move side to side as if someone was swiping there finger from screen to sceen. Long story short, the device went into reboot mode again. So in the box this thing went, and a phone call to VZW took place at about 11am.

After explaining everything to them, they deemed the phone no good and said they would overnight a brand new one and that it would be here today 5/13/2010 by 3pm! Anyway, decided to make a call and see what was up since we never recieved a tracking number by email. Well... the news that we recieved was in no means good! The customer service rep looked up the order number and indeed saw that overnight shipping was placed, the only problem is that any orders placed or takin between the 9th to now are not expected to ship until the 26th of May!!! Now seriously are you kidding me? I've been through 3 iphone releases, and a ton of Blackberry releases, and have never heard of such a thing. And that will role right to the end of his 30 day try period, no exceptions on that! The best part is that they charged the credit card already, and expect us to wait 2 weeks with no phone. Now I dont know who to blame, but I remember a few months ago Tmobile having a similar problem with the HD2 release, and not getting stock for almost a month after the release. All in all, he's pretty pissed because going witout a phone is not an option, Just doesnt seen like a release that was thought out properly. You would think that a hot ticket item like this would be stocked and ready to go in the year 2010...Not the case here!

They didnt know it would be a hot ticket item. They didnt even promote it that much. Verizon pays a high price for each unit they get from HTC and they pay it before they sell them to the consumer. It sucks that you have to wait but it's better to wait on a new phone than have them send you a refurb.

What apps were installed?

Were you using a Task Killer or automated application stopper?

Dust on the optical sensor can cause the home screen flipping.

We need some info if we're to have any hope of helping you out.

Sorry you're having issues.

Zero third party Apps! I'm pretty crafty in the phone dept, never saw something like that happen on a phone.

COME ON!!! They knew it was gonna be BIG! The droid sold well, and the Incredible a bump up in specs, and Android is HUGE right now.

Call around to the stores and see if any of them have it in stock. Some of them do. Then, just exchange it at the store.

Completley sold out, There not even on the same page! The stores are stating that it can be FedEX'd with 2nd day shipping because they are out of stock everywhere. I can see some angry posts going up in the next week with people ordering and not getting anything for 2 weeks. BIG THUMBS DOWN..

the only think i can see wrong is the service rep last night though they had them in stock somehow. I would cancel the return for now and call all stores that are near. Then if none have 1 call VZW back and have them do thru the process again and make sure that they dont charge you for the phone yet and also entend your 30 days from when you activate the new one.

edit: ok you will just have to wait if they are all out then too

She was really nice on the phone, not her fault that the Incredible is sold out. However they were quick to charge that card right away. I suspect there are problems with the phone that both HTC and Verizon are aware of, and before they sell anymore they want to get any kinks worked out. Sounds nuts, but HTC is as dependable as Steinheil was the other day when they opened the flood gates for there screen protectors, and were not prepared or stocked up enough!

I can *almost guarantee that is NOT the case. Failure rate on the INC is very, very low.

You got a dud and that sucks. The rep you spoke with screwed up and told you there was inventory, that sucks, too.

There aren't any available (which is NOT a secret) and there is little anyone can do about that fact. I would just roll back to an old phone and wait it out. I'm sure vzw will take care of all the refund/trial period nonsense etc.

How do you know what the failure rate on the INC is?

I think problems with this phone are more wide spread then we seen to think!

^ i'd be placing a call to bs on that statement too. the reason why the phone isn't available is because it's a huge success and they're trying to manage inventory.

the incredibles that are out there right now have very few problems. but of course, if a few complain loud enough maybe they can convince everyone else that there's widespread issues with this phone. even though there isn't.

just because the op's "dad" is having a problem doesn't mean that 20, 10, 5 or even 2% of everyone else is.

Everyone take it easy...Enough with the Incredible is the best thing on earth stuff! I happen to trully like the phone, but my dads problems, my crappy call quality, and the Manager from the store I bought it from saying that they have gotten a ton of calls from people asking if they have any in stock because they have a problem with the one they have is enough for me to think that maybe there are some PROBLEMS! Granted the incredible is a sick sick device, but hey, problems do happen!

And believe me....I want to say the Incredible is problem FREE! Who wants to deal with this BS...
