Any news/pics from today's event on the official car dock?

I'm really interested in using the Evo as an occasional GPS.

I'm pretty sure the car dock will look just like the HD2 car dock.

I hope not, the HD2 dock has a special battery cover that has magnets and it looks like it sticks out quite a bit killing the smoothness of the back.

From the looks of it, we maybe in luck. They seemed to have changed the dock from the original image I posted. I guess they went from a really cool dock design to a more useful, traditional design. See the new attached images. I think the new design makes more sense, though it isn't as flashy.

I'll definitely grab one at launch.

From the vids i have seen, it does on the EVO, you hit the "car" widget and it changes the icons to bigger ones w/ a specific set just for using in the car, dunno if its like the droid, but it does have a "car" mode

Dunno, just saw a video of it from the first time they announced the evo was coming (back a few months ago). one of the people demoing it showed the "car" mode. I didnt pay much attention b/c i have a Kenwood navi radio that does most of that stuff for me.

This phone just keeps getting better and better for me. That's great news. Aside from my office, I spend a lot of time in my car, so having a car mode makes my life that much easier.

Well, couldn't you just get a 3.5mm to RCA connector and then connect that to your car headunit? Sorry, I'm assuming you have an aftermarket headunit, but that's always a possibility and maybe it'll work.

That'd be an AWESOME add on, if they could make it work. I'd leave them in my car primariily, but say I wanted to take the speakers with me and use them in a rental car, that'd be the best!

On the Incredible, there is an app called "Car Panel" which has the enlarged buttons you're looking for.

However, it doesn't not go into Landscape mode when you angle the phone in that orientation.

Since both the Evo and Incredible are running the Sense UI, I imagine it'd be the same for both devices.

I don't think so....nothing on the HD2 one says anything about speakers. I know the N1 dock has speakers. I wish there were speakers because I have no way to do get the sound to my car speakers. At least with a speaker, it could potentially be loud enough to overwhelm street noise.

Just an FYI, but this person posted about the HD2 including a car dock when purchased, so I'm thinking there's no reason it won't be included for the EVO too!
