Hi guys, sort of a newbie here.

My fiance has a moment and we wanted to know how to back up her app data before we update to 2.1 without rooting the phone.

I know that contacts and e-mails are synced but what about app data?

I tried a quick search but found nothing. Thanks for the help!

It all depends on the apps you are backing up. Some apps have options to back up their data to the SD card; some don't. In any event, paid apps from the market will show up when you go back into the market. Free apps will have to be searched for & re-installed. There is a free app in the market called AppList that will make a list of the installed apps (and current version numbers) on your phone and write it to a text file on the sd card.
