Root Failed flashing SPrecovery with RSD Lite

Following the instructions found elsewhere for flashing SPrecovery for 2.1 using RSD Lite, I have installed the 64-bit USB drivers (I'm running Vista 64) and I have installed the latest RSD Lite, v4.6. I enabled USB debugging on my Droid earlier today.

I booted the phone while pressing Up on the D-pad and I saw what I was supposed to see. RSD Lite saw my Droid. I selected the correct file and hit Start, but it failed immediately. No progress whatsoever, just an immediate fail.

Any ideas where to start troubleshooting this? This is my first attempt at this, so I don't really know what else to look for.

I read somewhere that we should run RSD Lite as administrator, so I tried that and it did not help. It still fails immediately. I saw someone else on another thread who had the exact same issue, but I don't know if they found a way to get around it yet.

Solved! I saw a post on another forum where the user found that the SPrecovery .sbf file had to be in the root of his C: drive to work. I moved it there and it worked with no problem. That seems really strange to me, but maybe it's a Vista thing, or maybe even a Vista 64-bit thing. I really have no idea, but it worked.

Are you running RSD lite as administrator?

I had this problem as well, and putting the file in the root of C: didn't work. I moved it to my "My Documents" folder, and it suddently worked fine. Running Windows 7 x64. I would say if it immediately fails, to keep trying different folders until you find one that works. I've heard it said that it's a folder path issue, not a permissions issue, but I don't know.
