So long story short, I had a night of fun last night and my drink ended up all over my droid. It works fine, no issues, but its really sticky and the slider gets stuck. It also REEKS of pineapple skyy and monster. Anyone know any good ways to clean it up? Mainly safe ways?

I was just wondering where the umbrella ended up?

Lol, jk...my nephew spilled some Gatorade on mine...I used the q-tip method above and it worked fine.

Another quick question...
I have a red Verizon case for it and I discovered that's sticky as well. Will the alcohol ruin the paint?

Nope. Alcohol isn't a solvent. It's what's used to clean off LCD screens, in fact! Just don't go putting any nail polish remover (acetone) on anything plastic, and you'll be fine.

I have an interesting story about learning of acetone's dissolving powers, actually, but that's for another day. :D

kyleonfire -- you may be onto something... scented cellphones? I can just see a small display set up in Verizon, loaded with fancy glass vaporizors, just for us over-the-top cellfanatics. DroidBeach scent... DroidPineapple... DroidCandyApple...

When I was in the eighth grade, we had one phone. And it had a long twisty cord. Attached to a wall. And one ringtone. And that ringtone sounded like..., well, a phone.

Why is it so impossible to actually find a cool phone, such as the Droid, and have it come with a ring tone that sounds like a "phone"? I mean this thing has like 30+ "ring tones" and most of them are either fake rap beats or "hardcore" metal beats.

I guess they think we might have the sudden urge to spit a freestyle, yo.

Alcohol is most definitely a solvent. It won't harm the plastic itself, but if it's paint on plastic you could have some troubles.

Why not just wash the case with soap and water and let it dry?

It's a solvent, but it's not a very strong one. I really don't see it affecting painted plastic, that has NEVER happened to me before and I clean most everything with isopropyl alcohol.

I dropped mine in a Banana cream pie Blizzard from DQ...:(. It was in my lap and it slipped off right into the cupholder where the blizzard was while I was driving. I was non too pleased. I licked off what I could until I got home lol. I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. Man was I pissed hah. Luckily, it works just fine/
