I tried using a walkthrough from YouTube: YouTube - How To - Root Your G1 or MyTouch 3G with One Click (www.TheUnlockr.com)

But once I got to the "unmount your SD card" - I clicked format and now it says the Total Space and Available Space is unavailable... - and all my Images/Vids are gone.

What'd I do? :(

can someone direct me to the correct tutorial in which I can root my cell phone? I'm trying to get an application to take screen shots (for when I play games) - and apparently all of them require the phone to be rooted..

Well, your pics, vids, and whatever else was on your sdcard is gone because you formatted it. Formatting erases everything.

This is the guide I used to root. If nothing else, I'd compare its steps to what the Unlockr's are and see where you might have messed up.

While it's true that screen capture apps require root access, you can also do screencaps from the Android SDK without root. See the link for a guide on installing it, if you want to give that a shot. No pun intended.
