I have had the g1 since day one. I often wonder how hard is it to make apps. I see on the market their are lots of them on their. I have basic computer skill. I know some but not all about computer. And can I down load the app maker to a mac computer ?

The reply above is pointing you in the right direction. Unfortunately, it takes more than basic computer skills to develop an Android App. You will need to learn Java.

On a positive note, the Eclipse development environment is free, so it won't cost you anything to develop an app.
