Help Apps won't download

I've downloaded a number of apps successfully, but recently have found that all the apps I'm attempting to download are stuck in the "starting download" position. This includes apps I attempted to download up to a week ago. It can't be the connection -- my phone is right next to a wifi hotspot.

Is it possible I've inadvertently changed a setting or pushed a button that prevents my apps from downloading?

Many thanks for any help,

Joe

If you've just switched your googlemail account to gmail then that might be the problem. This happened to me, so I had to switch it back and restart the phone.

I answered too swiftly! I had changed my googlemail account to gmail (but not on the desire). When I changed it back on my computer, the desire started downloading... Many thanks

Is the answer to change my desire account to Gmail too?

Also, do you know if I change the account on the desire as well as the gmail account will that work?

Ta,

Joe

I posted this in another thread, might aswell post it here aswell.

You have to factory reset in order to change the google account on your phone.

Google Mail is becoming Gmail in the UK - Gmail Help

  • Android: If you use an Android device and change your address, the Google Talk app will not connect properly, but other Google applications should work fine. The current solution for this is to do a full reset of your Android device and use @gmail.com, but we are working on resolving this issue as soon as possible.

Personally I'm waiting for google to sort it out, cant be ****ed to do a factory reset.

Same here - any gmail mail will always get sent to your googlemail one anyway. As for OP's problem. I had the same today that was solved by a reboot. Couldn't download apps (would sit at 'starting download') and couldn't open the talk app. As well as this I received a couple of 12 hour old (gmail) emails. My hotmails had been coming in all day! Guess it just lost the link to googleland!
