Encryption on Evo/Android?

Question for anyone who knows: What quality of encryption is the Evo going to have (or similar Android based phones)? My company required FIPS 140-2 Validation, which right now limits us to BlackBerries. It'd be sweet if Google or even HTC were working on something that does this so that it could be used in more corporate environments.

wow lol that ts lvl encryption mil spec devices only... i doubt that android will have it pre installed but

Yeah, it's pretty asinine to have that type of policy but what are you gonna do?

FIPS 140-2 compliant encryption will be standard requirement for any interaction with government systems. If your company doesn't do it, they are wasting their time if they hope to leverage any of their business functions (now or future) for use with the government. Hey at least it's a baseline, and a decent one. It sure beats the chaos of before.

Having said that, it's weird that only BB comes compliant out of the box. You would think that Palm and HTC or Google would want to eat into some of that market share.
