Battery issue since the update

I just received my OTA saturday morning, after all said and done my battery life is worse after the OTA. I unchecked the box for applications that run in the background, lengthened the time of update for weather and emails, does anyone else have the same issue or has found something out to resolve the battery issue??? please help!

Ya know, I thought my battery life seemed extra short today.
Normally, moderate to heavy use will get me until late at night. Today it was low by mid-afternoon. I'll have to test it a few more days to see, but that seems really odd considering they said the battery life will be improved!

ya its really weird, my battery used to last from about 5am to almost 9pm with normal use going to bed it would be at around 30-40 percent, today it was off the charger for three hours and it was at 75 percent, the up time and awake time is the same and i turned off all the same stuff that I had off prior to the update....maybe it needs a "break in" period again, like when the phone was new with OS 1.5? its the only logical reason that I can think of.

Got my update yesterday. Wasted the day trying to fix stupid stuff.

Unplugged the phone at full charge and went to bed. Less than 6 hours later it woke me up beeping. 12%. WTF?

I tried to look for the "awake time" thing but everything is different. I went to Settings/About Phone/Battery. It has awake time but no-longer shows the %. I used to stay around 7% but now have no idea.

I then went one step further. Settings/About Phone/Battery/Battery Use. It shows 25% used by "phone Idle". What is that and why is it burning up my battery?

It also shows Bluetooth useing 23%. I have a BlueParret headset and it is hooked up 100% of the time. I don't try to talk on this flat box. Seems like the BT is useing alot more power than it used too. I don't get it.

What a let down.

did you check for the 50% with out signal bug? and bluetooth always uses a ton of power. and as for % of awake time it doesnt show a % just the hours minutes seconds so you can figure it im sure. but why unplug it when you go to bed? leave it plugged up.

I just got my update yesterday and I have no problem with the battery at all. My phone's been unplugged for 14 hours now and still have 30% left on my battery with moderate usage on my phone.

I think what helps is going to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Network and unchecking the box that says "Enable alway-on mobile"

I have had the ota update since last week, initially battery life was worse, but it progressively got better. In fact I charged phone yesterday night just like every night and I am still running on that charge. Battery still at 50%.I am using stock android home UI, and not running any task killer or battery widget. I did have no signal problem after update, but ran airplane trick and its been gone ever since.

Agree. After the 2.1 OTA the battery drained quick. As the days have passed battery life is back to normal. Started today at 100%, it's 8:30PM and I'm at 50% with normal usage all day and no charge.

I finally got the update yesterday, so I can't go by that; I spent a lot of time installing, factory resetting, reinstalling all apps, setting preferences, etc. Today my use was back to normal - maybe I was using it a bit more - and my battery life was either the same or slightly better than it was under 1.5, and that's with the 50% time without a signal issue.

What is this bug you are talking about and how do I check?

I've not read a direct answer as to it being safe to leave it plugged in. The manual says nothing about the phone not over charging the battery. I've used lipo batteries in RC planes for a couple years and it's a big no-no to over charge. They will burst into flames. Where does HTC say the phone stops charging the battery when it reaches a full charge.

My original point was I didn't need to leave it on charge before. I could go to bed with a full charge then use the phone the next day and charge when I got home but after the update the thing died in less than 6 hours without use.

I have noticed that my battery life improved a little by turning the background data off, and I dimmed my screen a bit. I have always hated task killer, its drained my battery on 1.5 but it seems now it actually works. or maybe I just figured out how to use it! LOL. but it seems it frees up space on the phone and its starting to give me more battery life. im gonna give it a few days and ill repost what I found out. if anyone else has some tips, feel free to share. im heading to VZ saturday morning to have them look at it too. ill post my findings. Also is there anyway to keep the "awake" time down I'd be damned if I can make mine any less that a few hours difference between the up time and the awake time.

Has anyone stopped to think that maybe you are using your phone more now after the 2.1 update.... especially if you came from 1.5?

I know I have. Battery life has been terrible the past couple days... but I am constantly playing with it to get used to the new features and such. Charged fully before sleep last night and unplugged. Woke up and 7% battery was used up. Been using it since 5:30 this morning and at 80 percent now (downloaded a couple apps, ran mybackup and browsed the internet for news this morning for about 30-45 minutes...)
