Anyone care to suspend disbelief with me for a moment?

Take a trip with me down the rabbit hole...

What if, WHAT IF, AT&T has been sitting on announcing more Android phones because the next phone they're announcing features Froyo? There's still that HTC slider out there that nobody knows anything about. Absolutely nothing, which is strange in this industry.

*insert dramatic music*

AT&T Releases Their Own Account Management App For Android Devices | Android Phone Fans

It is an account management app

AT&T’s launched an app for their customers to manage their account and view their account information on Android devices. Currently, they only carry the AT&T Backflip, but the app will be compatible with all Android phones that AT&T rolls out in the future.

The app will allow you to pay your bills from your phone, view all your usage data for voice, text messaging, and mobile internet, and it will let you opt-in to paperless billing with the ability to view your bills on your phone. Additionally, you’re able to change your plan’s services (such as data, text messaging, and other add-ons that AT&T offers), however it’s not clear if you’ll be able to change your base plan from the app.
If you want to take advantage of this, be sure to swing by AT&T to sign up for MyWireless, then point your phone’s browser to the app’s landing page at myWireless Mobile for Android(TM) devices (or simply search the Android market for MyWireless Mobile).

Cosnider that when 2.1 came out it took HTC almost 3 months to write the sense UI. That would mean unless they plan to announce a google experence phone, which would shock me, the new phone would be 3-5 months down the line to have 2.2 and sense on it.

If we are going to talk about whacked out theories here is another one to ponder.
AT&T and apple are so joined at the hip that the reason the android phone released and the one announced is running 1.5 is to give apple more talking points on fragmentation. Since newer devices running an older OS help to fragment.

On point A... Shhh... he's in a happy place right now, don't bring him back.

On point B... Conspiracy theories FTW! But... the Backflip's siblings launched with 1.5 on other networks. It's a Blur issue...

I actually don't think it's that big of a leap. As for the fragmentation thoughts, waiting for Froyo would actually help AT&T to beat back the fragmentation if they release the rest of their handsets running it...

You do realize that the one device they've released specifically had an older version of the OS on it right? And they've got such a bloated version of that older OS that an upgrade to ANY newer version is going to cause people to have to wipe their current installs.

And when they finally do make that miserable update for their backflop customers it will once again be just as bloated and loaded as to cause further updates to be nigh impossible.

Ok that second part was merely a guess, but this is the thread of dreams, but admit it, mine is more plausible! :D

So yer sayin' they've not learned from their past transgressions & are now moving to make things right? I thought this was a thread about suspending disbelief? ;)
