Does anyone know how to change the amount of times their phone rings before the caller is sent to voicemail? When I call my phone from another phone it only rings four to five times before it goes to voicemail. However, when I call my wife's eris it rings six to seven times before sending to voicemail....

My phone is on v3 leak and my wifes is a stock 1.5.

This is really frustrating because it already takes at least two rings from the other end before my phone even acknowledges someone is calling...and yes i've changed my slot cycle down to zero...so by the time it starts ringing the ringtone only lasts about five to ten secs...not enough time at all to even try to answer...

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

this might be a dumb?, but how do you set that? I have looked and can't find the answer. Thank you

Change the slot cycle by going to phone and dialing ##778 as if making a call.. press "call" then wait a bit.. then "edit mode," then "000000" as the password, then "modem," then "slot cycle index."

Make your setting, then don't forget to press menu and save your settings. It'll reboot.

Ok. Did it. I picked slot 1. Is this good? What is the best slot? I was on 2.

Battery life is impacted by the lower settings, as those settings cause the device to poll cell towers more frequently for input/calls.

The differences are in seconds and fractions thereof.

Mine has been set on 0 for months, however, and I've found that other battery saving measures make up for the increased usage of the low slot cycle setting.

I called Verizon on this issue also and the rep said that it couldn't be done so i asked her to transfer me to tech support and he said that they just found out that they can change the ring length from 30 seconds (5-6 rings) to 40 seconds (8 rings) but not everybody knows that this can be done for some reason so i had him change mine and it works great.

What did they do to change this?

Lame, guess it was my Pre on Sprint that had the number of rings option.

Kind of odd that yours and your wife's are set differently though. Did they say anything about that?

Well, i thought it had to do with me doing leak and hers still being factory settings...figured leak messed something up...I actually only messaged VZW Support on Twitter...not such a good idea. I will be calling tech support tomorrow to try and get someone to make my phone ring for forty seconds...sounds like a GREAT fix for this problem!!!

So I got to someone at tech support who knew about adjusting seconds until voicemail...he adjusted my wifes (on 2.1 OTA) and it made her's ring eight times before sending to voicemail!! Now, he did the same thing for my phone...it still only rings 3-4 times....frustrating!!!! I'm waiting for a call back from that tech now...sigh, so frustrating!!
