Incredible grounding flaw?

That is the rumor, but I guess most of the tests are coming from the touch screen not being sensitive to touch when in the car mount. I mean, if i lay my incredible flat on its back on a table, the touch response is perfectly fine so I havn't really experienced any issues. Then again, I am coming from a Storm 2 that, on the RTM OS was unresponsive to touch when placed on a flat surface, so its not going to bother me much.

edit: 7BTW Here is the thread in the troubleshooting section : http://androidforums.com/support-tr.../70366-unresponsive-screen-when-car-dock.html

why is this even brought up???? seriously, how many of you people keep and use your phone while its sitting on styrofoam???? I saw the videos of this in the morning and started flipping out, tryed it on just about every type of surface thats in an office environment and couldnt duplicate it...

As far as car docs go, i had a cheap a/c vent holder from day one, and havent had an issue...

its just people looking for their 5 mins of fame posting their negative "findings". If youre reading this, you already have and love this phone, so just enjoy it :)

before this blows up as a "OMG incredible sucks, mine does this too!!!" fiasco...

My Incredible does NOT do this, as well as my brother and my sister's Incredibles.

I have tried 3 different car docking stations, I have tried it on styrofoam(two different pieces to be exact)...just like the videos provided describes for this "grounding issue".

I can't replicate the same results that the user in the video is showing. It is just as responsive with one hand/finger use as it is with two hands (one to hold it, the other to navigate).

Sounds like it may be a bad batch of phones that were produced.

Yeah, I tried it on everything I could find around the office and didn't have an issue. Styrofoam block, styrofoam cup, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, this weird paper type substance one company uses for packing. My touchscreen worked perfectly.

glad it works for you in the car dock but it IS a problem for a lot of people. more than likely your vent is grounded to the car, but some people use window mounts and many of the phones DO NOT work that way (mine included) don't assume just because yours works that everyone else is just trying to complain about nothing!

BTW, I do have the phone and I do love it, and the car mount issue isn't a problem for me because if the phone is in my car it will be plugged into the charger but this is good info for people that may be experiencing this problem and want to know of possible solutions.

I've done this on all sorts of surface excluding styrofoam and mine doesn't do that at all. I'd try it on styrofoam but I haven't yet been out and spotted a chunk of styrofoam and said "Let's put my phone down and use it one handed now." However, I am now on the lookout.

BUT....plastic, paper, wood, metal, leather, cotten/cloth all seem to work fine to me.

Chill.

And it is a real problem for some people. I used it with my FM transmitter in my car (which worked fine with other touchscreen phones), plugged in to the headset and I would get the same non-responsive touchscreen results. Reading forums helped me (and others) understand that there was a general problem, which led people to conclude what the issue was, and how to solve it.

That is the point of these forums. I read them because I love the phone, but am not blind to problems it may have.

So this happens to me quite often: Im sitting on my couch, phone is laying on the couch next to me. I try to use the touch screen to do something with the phone still laying on the couch, phone doesnt respond. It will respond once I actually pick it up and hold it.

Would this be the cause?

Yup, it's annoying and not that easy to dismiss like some have said we should be doing.
