Help what will 2.1 fix?

I have had my moment less than a week but in that time 2.1 has come out and I have noticed a few quirks I would love fixed. Will 2.1 help:

Windows 7 issues -- even trying all the fixes my laptop won't recognize my phone.

Battery life

Phone running hot

Camera -- slow to take pic and no zoom.

Crashing and freezing

Also do I have to take it to a service center to update? Sprint store said they couldn't do it and with above windows issue I don't think I can either?

2.1 might not fix every problem, but it's well worth the effort. What have you tried to get your computer to recognize the phone? Most of the problems seem to revolve around win7 64bit.

Obviously, if you don't have access to the update software you'll need to go to a store. You could go to sprints site and look for the nearest repair center but I would call first to make sure they can do the job (bad experience with the cl14 update)

I would suggest switching to 2.1, you'll like your phone much better. If your phone is getting hot while it is idle (no screen on), you likely have an app that is running in the background killing your battery. If you are adventurous and are not too worried about warranties, you can look to rooting the phone and/or putting customer kernels on it. They can fix and improve the phone in many ways. There will be a lot of options in the next couple of days. 2.1 is much better than 1.5, it is a night and day change in my opinion.

I am not super "techie" but have a partner who is. She tried all the things suggested on here to fix the Windows 7 thing and finally gave up. She's an electrical engineer, btw.

The phone is getting pretty hot when I am browsing the web or just using it a lot, or if it is on the charger and being used. It is like holding a mini laptop in my hand after a long time using it. Maybe that is normal? But the other day I was using the wifi at home and called a friend after and the phone was really bothering me to hold it because it was so warm, even on the front by my ear.

Does 2.1 have a zoom for the camera? what about speed? I was going to buy a camera app that had zoom but figured I would try this first.

In Camera mode, when you tap the screen, it displays a touch slider + and - to zoom in and out. Can't find a zoom for video though (yet)

The camera is a little faster in 2.1. There is no zoom though, auto focus yes. Edit: it appears that it does have a zoom. Never noticed it before. The camera is generally better though. I cannot remember what the 1.5 camera was like, but I remember thinking the 2.1 was much better.
