So I broke the screen on my Incredible...

This past weekend. Here are some pics to show the damage done when you don't have a case and the screen hits the concrete :

Luckily, I had insurance(phew!) so I am definitely stoked about that. The reason why I made this thread was to see if anyone can tell me what the name of the widget is that is at the top of my screen that can control Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and brightness of the screen seen here:

I've tried looking for the life of me, and cannot find this widget or remember what the name of it was. If any of you could please tell me, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Awesome! Thanks a lot you guys.

Yeah, you did not want to hear the words coming out of my mouth after I had dropped it. Mind you, I just got back from the Beer Fest in Sacramento this past Friday, and as my buddy Dan heard the expletives coming out of my mouth, he knew something happened to my phone.

Weird thing is, the phone still works just fine. The screen doesn't look pretty, but is still responsive. Strange.

Tell everyone it is a custom screen protector! heh Then charge other people to get theirs like that, you know just enough to pay for your insurance claim.heh

Jakaro - Great idea! lol. Nah, I couldn't do that to my fellow Incredible brethren, I would not be able to go to sleep at night! Now, for Crackberry users, maybe....just maybe. :p

mrootes - As soon as I got my replacement, I stopped caring for the cracked phone like a red headed step child.

skipdawg - yeah dude, I went and got the body glove case after this incident. My phone is a little bulkier, but I'd rather have the piece of mind than have the slim (and unprotected) phone.

haelous - My work place is pretty close to one of the cell towers, so I get really great reception at work. When I'm at home, I only have one bar, but no dropped calls so far.

For those of you wondering, I had the phone about waist high.

I had turned on the Google Sky app because I thought it would be cool to try to find some constellations (anything sounds like a great idea after a few beers) and as I brought the phone down, I felt it slipping and tried to catch it.

So all in all, it was about three feet off the cement, give or take. And it hit the concrete screen first. The lower right hand corner hit the cement first, as the cracks you can see started from the right hand corner then worked its way up.

Lesson learned quickly(and an expensive one too) and already purchased the body glove case. I also ordered a Steinheil crystal clear protector as well. Phew!

Wow...I dropped mine from about a 4.5' counter today onto a ceramic tile floor. Battery cover flew off, but no damage. Battery cover snapped right back on and everything's working fine. Whew. I may have to bite the bullet and buy a plain old black case until somebody starts releasing pink cases for this thing.

This demonstrates how drinking and DInc-ing don't mix. (Sorry about your phone.)

Hey all,

So I know there are a ton of threads on the topic of cases, but after spending about 3 hours on this site (granted I got side-tracked several times) is there a consensus as to the best case? I'm looking for something that won't make it to bulky but something to prevent what the unfortunate starter of this thread went through.

So far I've had my phone for a month and I just have been really careful with it, but I really want a good case.

Thanks in advance!

Lots of people (myself included) are pleased with the Verizon silicone case. It's smooth (doesn't stick when you get it out of your pockets) and thin. Also apparently good protection. And makes the camera flush so it doesn't stick out.

I've read good things about Otterbox and Seidio as well, and those I believe will be out soon.

I tried the clear case that Verizon sells on their website. It was bulky and ugly, scratched extremely easily and worse of all had a habit of popping open.

So I went naked for a while and then a friend of mine told me the Verizon corporate stores carry the Body Glove. Curiously, that case is not available on the manufacturer's website until June 7th.

I went to one of the local corporate stores and picked up a Glove. I love it and the phone is well protected. Not bulky and very pleasing to the eye.

Here's a pic of it on a third party site.

Body Glove Snap On Case :: HTC Droid Incredible Cases :: HTC Droid Incredible :: Droid Accessories for cheap !

BTW that's a great price--mine was $30 plus tax.

Do you remember how much the clear case costs? I am looking on Verizon's site to refresh my memory of which one that is, and don't see it. Oddly enough, I also don't see the silicone case that I was referring to either.

edit: I found the silicone case: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&archetypeId=12058&page=1 but can't find the clear one...
