So I've had my Eris for a month or two, just got it all figured out and looking good...now this update has made it so screwy.

First of all every call I get the phone ask me if I want to make them a contact, but they already are.
Example, I call "Joe" by pressing his FB pic in my contacts, but if "Joe" calls me the phone acts like it doesn't know the number.

Next problem is the browser, it just "closes". No warning no message it just kicks me to home screen and ends the browser program. I'll just be reading a page and it will go black and kick me to the home screen.

Also, my keyboard has become a buggy mess of laggy input, unresponsive, and at times refusing to pop up. I'll select a text field to type in yet have no KB pop up.

That's all so far, I'm sure there's stuff jacked up I haven't noticed many of you are suffering from, but these are my top 3 apparent issues so far.

1. Issue #1: The number Joe is calling from does not exactly match what is on your contact list. You may need to edit your contact list. I noticed that on my phone it started adding the area code so no one matched their contact.
2. Issue #2: welcome to 2.1. My phone is so laggy some times that it takes a minute to open the dialar or any other app.

Pretty sad. I called verizon about my poor signal and other issues. they had me reprogram the phone but I got them to note in the ticket that next step is to send me a replacement. I am getting kind of tired of this crappy performance.

And yes I have factory reset several times.

My biggest issue is the silent call problem. You would think that HTC and Verizon would have tested it sufficiently enough to come across this bug and deem the update not ready. Hopefully with all the complaints, they will come out with a patch pretty soon. If anything on a smartphone, its important that the core functionality of the phone is reliable.

I don't care if we never get 2.2. But honestly the silent call issue is pretty bad, and I could see how this could be an big problem for someone in an emergency situation, only to find the horror of their phone being completely silent. That hypothetical situation would probably be enough to make sure it gets patched in order to avoid a potential lawsuit.

That's a very good point. Considering that people generally don't notice the silence until they go to make another call, you can imagine the horror if that silent call was to 911.
