Improved Call Quality for Incredible - xda-developers

For some users it greatly improves call quality and poss fixes the reboot issues.

Its only for users that have towers in their area that support the better voice compression technology.

Give it a shot.. just remember to email the instructions to yourself if you ever need to switch back..

Go to Phone and Dial ##778

Choose Edit Mode

Password is 000000

Go to CDMA Settings

Scroll all the way to bottom

Change Home Page, Home Orig, and Roam Orig from EVRC to EVRC-B

Hit Menu and Commit Changes

Phone reboots and walla no more muffed voice calls!

enjoy your uber phone.

interestingly enough, this has been talked about in this very same forum, as well as the tips and tricks forum for the inc. (at least 3 threads)

Problem is, it doesn't work for everyone. It's based on if the tower you are using supports evrc-b...

And not surprisingly, no one checks to see if a thread exists before reposting it again and again...

And people wonder why they can never find answers. It's because they have to wade through the same stuff over and over.

So it has been 24 hrs since I made the change and there is no battery drain (as far as I noticed) and the call quality is good. Lets see what happens in July when I drive to South Carolina and forget that I made this switch. I'll probably start freaking out some where in Virginia if they don't have EVRC-B. I'll probably blame it on the wife or the kids..... LOL.

Maybe a MOD can combine the threads. Keep in mind.... The Incredible is a new toy. When you find something new like this you want to share it with the community.... your too damn excited to check all the posts first. Its like trampling your little brother or sister to get to your christmas presents before they do. :D

Reaver, You know what? I'm just as excited. I have to apologize for being so curt in my comments. I have asked the mods to combine all 4 threads. Dunno, I guess it's just having been around several large phone forums and seeing it over and over that got to me.

All that being said, I certainly hope evrc-b gets implemented in all areas I frequent (about a 60 mile area). Right now, it's not worth it to me to have to activate it when I am around town, but de-activate it when i'm at work.

No worries..... no need to apologize. I didn't think you were being curt. I thought there was only one other thread, but 3 others... damn... that's over-excitement. Hopefully, the threads get combined.

On another note... I wonder if there is anyone out there who has the technical know how to create a EVRC(B) toggle widget. That would be sweet. :D
