Call problems

I got an Eris a few days ago and everything was working fine till I tried to make a call. The call connected and i had about 4 bars but there was no sound, so I hung up. Then that person tried to call back so I hit accept and all I got was a broken up voice, still with 4 bars. I then got a voice mail so I called my voicemail it connected but still no sound just a slight poping noice every now and then. Anyone have any ideas?

This has been happening before and after going to 2.1. Internet works fine, text messaging works fine, and email works fine.

This really needs to be patched. Not only because its incredibly inconvenient for me and the person on the other end of the line, but my mom keeps nagging me about how I "broke" her phone! Apparently if there is a mandatory firmware update by Verizon that has a major bug, its my fault.

yeah, its really annoying when i have missed 15 calls from my girlfriend and dad in the 5 days i've had 2.1

Yah it is annoying but it was happening before 2.1, i was acually hoping it would change when i got 2.1. I there a way to fix it, should I reboot the phone I tried searching for an answer.

If it was doing it before you upgraded to 2.1, then you might have a slightly different problem. Try doing a factory reset.

Take the phone to verizon and get a replacement. This is a hardware issue.

Yah thats what im was afraid of but thanks man. Im calling verizon tomorow to get a replacement.

The OTA wasn't mandatory. I'd take her phone to the closest VZW store. They'll replace it.
