Gmail and Android....Which way to go?

So i'll be new to Android coming from Blackberry so i'm curious how to set up my Gmail account. HTC Mail Client of the Gmail App.

1. I like to get my emails instantly? No delays. Does the HTC Mail client offer this or am I stuck with a set interval?

2. Gsync. I use gsync for my contacts/calendar. Does the HTC Mail client support Gsync? How about its calendar?

3. I'm guessing Gmail with IMAP works well with HTC Mail client?

Can the HTC Mail Client handle multiple accounts? I would want to set up my Gmail and my work mail through it.

I believe it can.

I can't recall whether it was on my HTC Hero or my relatives Samsung Moment that I setup, or maybe even both of them, but there was an option to set up multiple accounts.

This way, I would be able to use my GMail, Website and ISP e-mail accounts all in that one mail client.

I was in the middle of ansering your questions when I realized you mention HTC specifically...

I can attest to Android as used on a Moment runing 1.6

G-mail pushes,
Google Sync works well ( synced contacts, & calendar before I even realized it happend)(once I signed in w/google account)
G-mail will push without any extra set up

other e-mail clients are up to them... I know my Yahoo mail would not push, it had to pull at intervals, mine was set to 5 min. If that is an issue, you can always forward your other clients to a gmail account which will be pushed to handset.

I'm glad RedWingsFan started this thread because after watching the EVO demo someone posted up, I was trying to decide how to set up my emails. I have 2 gmail accounts and 2 other email accounts. All of them are for different purposes.

Can anybody recommend the "ideal" way to set up the email accounts that'll also help conserve battery life? I currently have WinMo and set each of my email accounts up separately. 1 to send/receive only when manually requested. 1 set up to send/receive every 4 hours. 2 Gmail accounts to send/receive every 1 hour. I've never used the push functions on my phone, but the more I've read, I'm thinking that the way I currently have emails set up might be draining the battery a little more than it needs to.

TIA for any advice on this.

drexappeal i second the use of gmail app

as long as your device is 2.0 or higher(and the evo is)
you can have quite a few.

i'm back on my droid eris and have 2.1
and i have all 4 of my gmails set up

personally, the htc mail app sucks.
i was supposed to get an email from my teacher
and it didn't ever notify me and i have set to notify every 5 mins

Thanks, Carmen. Being a newb to Android doesn't seem like it'll be that big of an adjustment for me (coming from a WinMo phone), but these little tidbits really help to know once I've got the EVO...well, that is, if I decide to move forward with my pre-order...LOL.

Hmmm...Based on what Carmen is saying 'bout the HTC Mail app, what's the difference between that and say the stock android mail app?

i've briefly had a droid but i can't remember the vanilla/stock android mail app really.
I don't think i had any problems on the droid

I prefer skinned(htc devices)...vanilla is way too boring to me and i don't care about the updates like some people do. I mean i do care but i'll live if i get it 4 months later...

But as far as htc mail, i strongly hate it with a passion :)
but some others may have a better experiences with it
