City ID --> KILLER ?????

Since Verizon was so nice {subliminal sarcasm} to embed City ID into the core of our new HTC Incredibles it's time to ask someone to help fight back. Regardless of what we do (or what I do) City ID fires up every time I get a call or a text message :mad::mad::mad:

Sooooo.... come on you app writing gurus, get your pencils sharpened and write us an app that will automatically kill City ID every time it tries to fire up... or at the least disable it's auto launching feature.

PUH-lease???? :D

It would probably be wiser to wait for the incredible to be rooted and then remove it that way. But any task killer would be able to kill it I would think.
Task killer does kill it, but it doesn't seem to want to do it on it's scheduled kill, only manually. Read thru a few other forums that were talking that the way this app was installed that there's a good possibility that even rooting the phone won't give you the ability to remove it :(

Use astro file manager nd go the system folder then go into the app folder.. find city id nd tap it. A window should pop up then tap open app manager there is an uninstall button.. issue solved.

Went to Astro, system folder, app folder, clicked on City ID, clicked open in app manager, clicked on UNINSTALL and got message UNINSTALL NOT SUCCESSFUL. It's hard coded, can't uninstall like that.

Issue NOT solved :mad:

Verizon told me it will have to be Rooted out. :(
Heard rumors they may not even be able to root it out as it may be coded into the phone in the OS or something like that.... :mad:

But this thing was annoying till the 15 days expired. Talk about Nagware. :mad: And not to accurate. Did not give 3 of my contacts the right location. :eek:
What happened after the 15 days? I have had my phone longer then that and when the 15 days ran out it asked if I wanted to register or continue with free trial.... no other options.:mad::mad::mad:

My trial of this program just ended today, so it gave me the option to subscribe or say f&^% you, and I opted on the seconded choice and said no. My issue is that it always launches after a call, and is always present in task killer. It may not be tying up a lot of resources but I hate that it always launches even tho I did not subscribe to the full program. This is such a pain in the ass to have installed and I can't believe Verizon would throw this crap on their phones pre-installed with no option to uninstall. It would be one thing if it was just installed after the subscription ended and was just on the phone, but the fact that it launches by itself even when the trial is over is stupid.
