Actually no. I swear to God I'm going to club a baby seal if I see another thread like the one posted by this Rhodes Scholar:

wow.... 12 hours of use so far and i still have 73% life left....

with the htc battery by now my phone will be 35% life left...

That's really amazing. Incredible, actually. Who knew you could get a 100% battery life increase out of a battery that is only rated by Seido to be 30% more than the stock battery?

For the last time, it is physically impossible to attribute a battery life increase beyond the rated capacity increase to a replacement battery. It is your usage habits which contribute to any increase beyond roughly 30%.

Like it or not, that's physics. I can't tell if it's a bunch of twelve year olds or Seido shills making these threads, but please people, use some common sense. 1 + 1 does not = 3, likewise 30% increase rated mah does not equal > 30% uptime increase.

No. Matter. What.

It's not just him, it's half the forum. "Conditioning" batteries, "300% battery life improvements", etc. It's come to the point where I figured I'd try to make a final wakeup call to people before removing the forum from my startup tabs and going back to XDA, where the average IQ of the forum has got to be 40 points higher. I like this forum because of the activity, but the content is just plain bad at the moment.

Unless of course there are problems with some of the batteriesthat shipped with the incredible..........

Which there is exactly zero evidence of, especially as it would have had to pass both HTC and Verizon's QC units. My battery life sucks just as much as everyone elses does (never got more than 8 hours so far, even with the 1500mah battery) but it's not a QC issue.

I suspect people with faulty batteries are in the minority and the differences in battery life have to do with different usage patterns. Every type of activity puts a different amount of strain on the battery...web browsing is different than making phone calls which is different than decoding DVD-quality h264 video.

The life most people seem to be getting is in line with other smartphones...the iPhone 3GS is only good for about six hours of web browsing over 3G, and it has a bigger but non-replaceable battery.

I am the one that got 3 times the battery life by doing the charging trick so i am guessing this is aimed at me.

I got 10 hours with absolutely no use and then after doing the charging trick i was able to get up to 30 hours with light use.

Its simple math not physics.

I can guarantee i have been troubleshooting smart phone way longer then you so you can say what you want.

I do suspect that I have a faulty battery. I have done all the tricks, make sure no apps are running at the background, everything else is off, but it is still not enough. I have opted for Seidio, it seems to satisfy my battery needs for the day.

Exactly; why is this so difficult for people to understand?

The reason I'm upset is because people are incorrectly attributing ridiculously large percentage gains to swapping batteries, which causes very real harm by having someone waste their money on something that can't possibly meet expectations (unless usage patterns are altered).

Actually it wasn't aimed at you at all. It's quite possible there is a charging bug in the software of the phone.

Nonetheless, your assertion has exactly zero actual evidence since you have no way of faithfully testing and reproducing that test - unless you got exactly the same phone calls from the exact same people, had the exact same signal coverage for every second of the day, had the exact same amount of web browsing, etc.

And I also guarantee you that you haven't been troubleshooting smartphones longer than me, not that it matters much. Does the Kyocera 6035 ring a bell?

Anecdotes aren't really a substitute for hard data which as far as I know we don't have. There was a blind test of different kernels on XDA not long ago and some people that swore up and down they were getting better battery life turned out to be using a higher-clocked kernel.

I can partially explain the plugging and unplugging issue, turning the phone on and off uses a not insignificant amount of battery life. Get a widget that shows you a battery percentage and then powercycle your phone and you'll notice you've lost a few percent by the time you boot back into the OS.

The fact is, with the similar usage, after 12hours, Seidio stays at 73% while stock didn't. I know you talked about usage pattern, but honestly, my usage stays the same.

Here's the thing - it's not similar usage unless you retraced your steps exactly considering that the cellular radio uses a large percentage of the battery and the power consumed fluctuates wildly depending on signal strength. Not only that, but just 5 camera shots could drop you 10-15%; watching three mintues of flash video could get you 10%, etc.

There is no way to qualify "similar" usage that is accurate enough for comparisons to be made when the battery capacities are only a few hundred mah apart. If you say that you Seido has 30% more increase than stock, fine, I'll accept that.

But once you make claims go beyond the rated capacity increase of the Seido (30% uptime), the burden of proof is on you to explain something that is factually impossible. That's just the way it is.

Well i can tell you that before i did the charging trick my phone sat there with absolutely no use, did not even pick the thing up once, no apps installed and i only got 10 hours. After i found the charging trick i was able to get 30+ hours with some usage. Then i loaded the phone with my apps and i am still able to get 20 -30 hours depending on my usage, obviously a lot less if i use it non stop. I am not a heavy user so my phone does nto get used that much

I understand your point.

Let me say this, by just leaving my phone with stock battery overnight with no use, I would see a significant drop in battery life.

As for Seidio, for the first time this morning, it only dropped a tiny bit. Which I'm really delighted with. :D
