what is up with this 50% time w/o a signal ?

my time without a signal is staying at 50%. anyone else having this problem? before the update i got 3 bars at my house. now i am getting only 1 and noticing the battery is dying way quicker.

Don't worry about it. It does that on the Incredible. Also many people think there might be a problem with the signal bars on 2.1. Both the Eris and Incredible show lower bars but service doesn't seem to be affected. The 50% without signal does not affect anything.

Wow, you people really are paranoid. If no one would have said anything, I wouldn't have even noticed my phone says 50% without signal in the settings. I've noticed zero change in phone performance or the number of bars since 2.1. I'm guessing this will be fixed (if it can be fixed) in a bug fix release.

Mine shows 25% and not the 50% we hear about in here, though.

Mine is about 30%... but I've noticed a decrease in service for sure-- quite noticeable. I don't blame the phone, as it could be some related to the system around my place. I live pretty far in the country but before 2.1, I had a decent signal strength. Sadly, I work in a place that has a very low signal too. So 99% my phone is working really hard!

Power cycle the phone. Sometimes the 50% without signal is hard set. other times it appears to work normally, 0%. Time since last boot is different in almost all the utilities that report this statistic.
Way to go HTC and Verizon. What a POS.
