EVO 4G at $174.99

I mentioned this in a tweet I sent out, but didn't get to post it up here yet, so here it goes.

Sprints' evpdiscount website sent out an email advertising the EVO 4G at $174.99. Pre-orders are available at the site but its only for new activations. Upgrades are still at $199.99.

Pretty sweet if you do not mind waiting an extra day or two for them to ship it out on the 4th of June.

It doesn't say it will ship out on the 4th, it says it will launch on June 4th (official release date). Evp is pretty good about getting the phones out before the actual launch day from what I heard on forum and coworkers.

I've dealt with them in the past before, and if memory serves me right, the day a phone is announced is the day you get it. But I have heard that some get it a day or two after launch day. And judging by the way the email was written I assume you get it a day or two after. Hopefully I am wrong.
Only bad thing with the whole deal is the wait of the mail in rebates. personally the whole idea of rebates doesn't make sense, but eh what can you do.

I ordered through EVP and was told by them that it will probably ship a couple days before the 4th. Last night I had a tech support guy on the phone and he said the same thing. He said EVP should get it before the stores. So will see I do not know for sure. He talked to me about the EVO for like 20 minutes.. There is a warehouse in my city so I hope to get it at least on the 4th.

It sounds like you have to pay the $36 activation fee here and if you order from Sprint's website that will get waved, which makes Sprint $1 cheaper.

When you order through EVP you can call in when you get the phone and they will waive the activation fee.

I am currently w/ AT&T and will be porting a number over to Sprint. Do I just order through EVP and they will port the number over when I call Sprint to activate the phone when it's delivered (hopefully on the 4th )?

They're going to put a temporary phone number on the Evo before you receive it. Once you receive the phone, you then call Sprint and have them port your current AT&T number to the Sprint HTC EVO phone. That's it.

I think it all depends on your company. My company's discount did not waive the activation fee, and I talked to Brain (the main EVP guy, I think) about getting it wavied...he would not budge. I ended up cancelling my pre-order with them.

I am a premiere cutomer so I should get free shipping and activation. I don't think you need to go through Brian for that. Once you get the phone and call Sprint to activate tell customer service that it was always waived before for business companies and now you were told they changed it and you were really hoping you didn't have to pay it. They waived mine when I got my TP2. There known to waive it. But my question is this? If RS and BB and Sprint stores are selling this phone on 6/4. When will the phones be shipped to them from the warehouse? It will have to be before the 4th and I was wondering are they going to ship all there's out and wait on us regular people till the 4th or will we get ours the same time they ship out the stores? I really want this thing early and there all ready available since 4000 people got one today and now there all over ebay. LOL! I want mine tomorrow I am off work. LOL!

I know someone from some other forum paid 500 bucks for one. I guess I'll just wait it out. But I am like 80% sure will have ours through EVP before the 4th. I sure hope so. But I've read a few reviews where Sprint TV isn't so good on this phone.

Oh and I just watched this video on youtube where this guy on this other forum took video fo someone unboxing there's from the conference. Peple say the 720P video isn't the best and reviews say don't toss the camcorder just yet. I go to here local bands play alot and always video with my canon camera and upload to You Tube. Can't wait to try HD with the camera and see what it looks like. I want to be able to text good with the on screen keyboard and if the speech to text works as good as everyone says it does than I'm good. I still haven't hear if it has Swype or not from someone who has the phone already.

Hoping for the same thing, but will be plenty happy just getting it on the 4th. I pre-ordered 2 EVO's from EVP. Did you do the expedited shipping or the free shipping?

I'll be happy just getting on the 4th too cause there is a warehouse in my city so I should get it that day. I am still hoping we get it early and I bet we do. They have to ship it to all the stores before the 4th like on the 1st maybe. So why not ship ours early too! I hope so. The stores will probably get there anywhere from a week to a few days early right? So lets hope we do too.

Thats what the CS rep over at evp told me. That they should be getting them a few days early from the warehouse and thats when they will ship them out. Since I chose overnight delivery, I should still get it before the 4th. Hopefully she was right.

I just placed my EVP preorder and paid $12 to have overnight shipping. I have to imagine this will be faster than the free 3-5 days shipping, but I could be wrong. At least that'll only be a $12 mistake. I can't wait for this bad boy to show up!

Now I need to find something in BB to spend $50 on...
