No more MP3 Ring Tones?

You don't need to install an app to add an mp3 to the list of available ringtones. Just create a directory on your sd card called \media\audio\ringtones. Put your mp3 in that folder, and it'll show up in your ringtone list with the tag name.

For a custom alarm, add a folder called \media\audio\alarms, and for notifications, add \media\audio\notifications.

I was having the same issue where none of the contacts that were assigned a ringtone would play that ringtone when they called. I figured out that it worked just fine after a reboot, but BEFORE I used advanced task maganger to kill what I thought were unnecessary apps running in the background. I don't know which app/service, etc it is that links the ringtones to the contacts, but if you typically run a task manager it looks like in 2.1, it will kill the process that allows ringotnes to be linked to specific contacts. Worked just fine in 1.5, so I don't know what changed.
