Guys,

Need a PC suite for this phone with the following features:

Edit Phonebook
Connect to the Internet
Install Applications from PC

I have tried using Kies which came bundled with the phone, but it does not support Spica 2.1.

I am not sure why Samsung is playing with us.

Have you enabled USB Debugging?

Menu
Settings
Applications
Development
USB Debugging

This should let you edit phone details etc.
You can also, from your PC log into your GMail account and edit them there. (sync after from your phone to upload changes.)

If you mean connect your PC to the internet via your phone, search for thethering apps.

If you mean connect your phone to the internet, either do it via wifi or GPRS. GPRS will need you to set up your APN (Access Point Names) settings correctly?

Menu
Settings
Wireless and Networks
Mobile Networks
Access Point Names
Your Provider
Enter your details.

And as far as installing apps from your PC. You will need to download the SDK kit for Android to do that. (About 1gb)

Or do it the easy way.

Install Astro file manager*, enable Unknown Sources in Application settings, and copy the .apk file to your internal SD card.

From within Astro File Manager, browse to the APK file and install it.

*Other File managers are suitable too.

Hi all,
My phone (GT - I5700) Galaxy spica does not seem to be detected by Kies. Its been updated to 2.1. My phone name does show up in the top right hand corner of KIES, but i cannot access my phone book , nor my messages or anything else. I can just see data inside my SD Card. can you tell me where i am going wrong and assist me.

Thanks a ton Beerkan.

I update the New Samsung PC Suite and it works fine. Phone book sync and all.

Will try tethering and see how it works
Don't think tethering will work, unless you "root" your phone.

By "root" I mean change the privileges on the phone to have "root" status. Bit like Administrator Privileges in Windows. By default you will NOT have root status on your phone, depending on the firmware you use.

However, if you want to root your phone..

Come to talk to me.
