I just received my Steinheil Crystal Clear protectors and need help with the install. I already damaged one of my two beyond repair trying to do the install. The problem that I have is that the trackpad cutout is still part of the protector. I guess I'm supposed to punch it out myself but it's in their very solidly. What's the best way to remove this so that I can actually try to move on..

Wow I never noticed that punchout. I just started peeling the back halfway off and I guess the punchout came out. This is the video I watched to install mine. Although its an AF and its on an iphone, its the same concept.

I would suggest wiping it off with a good microfiber cloth (I use a Fender cloth that I have for my guitar, it works perfect for all smudges), and then a compressed can of air to blow off the little particles. Then get a small piece of tape to get off any small pieces that might get on the screen side of the protector. What I did was poke the hole out first, then peeled off ~2", lined the hole up, and slowly un-peeled while applying.

The cutout should fall off easily. If it is not coming off then I would contact Steinheil and have a replacement sent. If you want to make it work, determine what is holding it on. Is one of the layers of protective plastic not cut all the way or is it the screen protector itself. Either way I only see one way to fix it. You will need to complete the cut where ever it is hanging on. An Xacto knife would probably be your best bet...or a razor blade as second choice. Once again this is not normal and you have the right to ask for a replacement.

I dunno where I read this....maybe it was this forum...but I installed mine in the bathroom after letting the shower run so all the dust settles to the ground...Worked pretty well I must say...you can tell theres a screen protector though...of course the cutout was the tricky part and there's a little bubble...it will drive me insane for the time being....but not enough for me to use my second screen protector on...

Why are people having so much trouble? this is by far the easiest screen protector ive ever used! One try, perfect.
