First off, wanted to point out the obvious and state that this is my first post on AndroidForums. I've been an iPhone OS enthusiast (can I say that here?) for far too long.

When I heard the EVO was handed out to Google I/O Attendees I HAD to take action. I live in Los Angeles, conference was in San Francisco.

I despise Paypal so I wasn't about to put my $450 in their hands.

What to do, what to do? ROAD TRIP!!!

As of yesterday morning (5/21), I am the new owner of an HTC EVO 4G.

Thanks man!! You'll LOVE IT (like you ever doubted it haha).

Just a little FYI for those of you that are like myself and abandoning your SERO plan for this phone. If you get a Google I/O device, it comes with a contract-free plan until June 20th. I'm using this up until the end so I don't have to fork out the extra $40~ or so to upgrade to a SE plan a month early.

congrats and welcome. i have to say you got it for a damn good price. i myself will have to wait until the 4th.. *sigh* unless i find one for $450 or less lol.

First off, loving the picture lol. Second, guy was asking $500 but reasoned with me to $450 because I was making this road trip haha. Also, saw you were from Maryland. I was born and raised in Frederick County.

Spending all that cash, sheesh... it'll all seem kinda silly after the 4th of June.

I thought the same thing until I worked things out in my head.

I have an upgrade due already, so I'll still get a second EVO with my upgrade, then sell it for $400-$450. My profit essentially wipes out any extra I spent on this EVO.

I just couldn't wait!! haha

Not everyone is eligible for an upgrade.

Yeah, and that's what it boils down to.

If I wasn't eligible for the $199 upgrade, I for sure wouldn't be ditching out $450 for a phone. $200 has always been the cap on how much I will pay for a phone.

Those not eligible, what's another $50 for getting it a few weeks early, and basically having a month of service free!

i acutally got it cheaper than it would have cost me to buy it in stores.

paid 470. and at RS it would have been 500 plus 8.25% sales tax. plus this way we get to try hotspot for free for 30 days and dont have to pay the $10 bucks extra yet. so thats a savings of 40 bucks already!

Well even though I paid $500 for mine, my Hero will most likely fetch at least $200 on eBay with its Otterbox case and Boxwave screen protector, so it really balances out in the long run.
