I believe there are a few folks without a corporate discount whom can take advantage of this. Someone recently posted about a 15% discount for students, but if you're not in school it's kinda unethical.

This discount, however, is for AOL/AOL Instant Messenger users; which means if you really don't have AIM, you can quickly signup @ Instant Messenger ? AIM ? Instant Message Your AIM and Facebook Chat Buddies for Free.

Link for discount: http://androidforums.com/www.sprint.com/aolhttp://www.sprint.com/aol/

Is this discount available to new customer? Yes
Is this discount available for existing customers? Yes
What do I need to take advantage of this 10% discount? EITHER an @AIM.com email address OR an AOL Instant Messager nick/handle.

Also, if you are not technically inclined:

Is this real? AIM gives out aim.com mail addresses. Plus, I cant think of why it makes business sense to do this. Finally, I know that Sprint is actually Sprint Nextell but the "sprnext.sprint.com" looks phishy to me.

You must have never heard of a sub domain, or third level domain. sprnext.sprint.com is still on the sprint.com domain. Or, just call the toll free number.

Yeah the site isn't owned by Sprint

Yes it is, which is why sprint.com/aol leads to the discount page. Or, do you actually think someone can hijack sprint.com?

Yeaaahh....

I don't even know what domain that whois is for, because it isn't sprint.com (which is what I linked) and you CANNOT perform a whois on a third level domain (a web address with a dot in it)

You guys are kinda re-tarded. This isn't complicated. It's one thing to be skeptical, but you lack basic understanding of how webservers (and cnames) work/function and sound like *****.

How about this, just call the toll free number on the sprint website, or dial *2 from your phone and as customer service to help you.

Good grief you guys are re-tarded.

Hey, guess what happens if you go to google.com, type in

aol member discounts

and click on the 5th link. it takes you to a page with a list of discounts:

http://free-stg01.aol.com/memberdiscounts/index.adp?sn=ok&test=skip

and of the companies listed, guess who is on the page? gee, it's sprint.

go freaking figure gee golly willickers.

(btw, if you're going to call someone a liar or shady, how about you do 30 seconds of research first)

It is the Whois info for the site you end up on. We are right to be sceptical in this day and age. The site sprnext.com was set up by Corporate Communications Group which is a PR firm for Sprint among others. No one called you a scammer so you are definitely out of line for your attacks. You can take your ****** comments and shove them up your a@$

You really really hated being wrong, didn't you?!

When I confirmed my discount with Sprint I was told that it would not apply if I got the $99.99 everything plan since they already consider this a discounted plan. They said it would only apply to those plans that had limited minutes (i.e. 450 or 900 minutes).

This is correct. This discount and other corporate/employer discounts do not apply to certain plans (Such as SERO & Simply Everything 99.99 plan).

Would I not get a Sprint premier status if I have a 69.99 plan and get a 10% discount?

I want my new customer priced phones every year.

Premier status looks at the base price of the plan, so the discount wouldn't factor into the eligibility. I asked this a while back and verified with Sprint. I also have the $89 plan, but I pay quite a bit less than that after discounts and it hasn't had any impact on my premier status.
