VZWsupport Twitter now says leakers WILL receive OTA..

Yeah, this "ZC" guy at VZWSupport's Twitter page again changed his tune (as of 830am EDT 5/24/2010), and now says leakers WILL receive the official update...

THEY SAID MAY 25 LAST WEEK.... we will see also got the same answer from a v-tech friend of mine and also don't have the update from leak 3

there are a couple of small issues that get changed. also the big one might be able to get root agian if you want. my phone leaked g/f updated hers seems a little faster.

Support from VZW for bugs... continued support and not being "left behind" on *possible* future patches.. etc.
At least thats why *I* want to receive the OTA. Having it be an "official" release at least gives me satisfaction that there will be support behind it.

My Eris is working fine... I'm just worried about the long haul... I've never had a phone last me an entire year without messing up...

Meh at this point I think there are just messing with people. With as many times as they change their minds, pretty much on a daily bases. Just wait a few hours and it'll probably change again.
Either that or they have a magic 8 ball that they defer to every time a person asks about the leak.

Sounds to me like they are releasing a bug fix for 2.1 which will have a higher version number than the current OTA 2.1 (which is the same ver # as leak 2.1) which will force leakers phones to get the OTA update.

Just my thoughts. Also probably won't be today.

I agree, I think leakers will have to manually load the file, but they will eventually be on the same page as the rest of us. I also think they are waiting for everyone to be up and running 2.1, then send out a patch for the bugs.

Someone explain to me how you isolate just the leakers to update them seperately. The HBOOT version is different yes, but can you check that info with the OTA scripts?
