I'm a sidekick three user but I'm thinking of switching over to the Droid on verizon. So I'm going to pick that phone up on Friday and will be trying it out during the buyer's remorse period before i decide i want to switch. My question is if I transfer my sidekick number to the Droid, can I easily put it back on my sidekick and be right where i started from, same plans and rates and everything? Or else I was thinking of putting a different number on the Droid FOR NOW, and if I decide to switch then put my sidekick number over to the Droid. Which should I do and how does switching numbers between carriers work?

I want to make sure if I transfer the number I'm using right now and then for some reason don't like the droid, keyboard is my big thing, then I can easily bring my number back to my sidekick without any hassle.

Based on past experience, if you port your number to Verizon and then decide to go back to Tmobile within the buyer's remorse period you should be ok but it will be a hassle. I did this once when I switched to Sprint and then went back to ATT. ATT was happy to have me back.

However if I were you I would just get the Droid and any number they assign to you and if you decide to keep it just call or visit Verizon and tell them to port your Tmobile number over, which will automatically cancel your Tmobile account. Much easier imo.

There was a post regarding this on another thread and the writer recommended waiting to switch your number over until you are sure you are going to want to keep it. It seems that switching the number back is kind of a pain, or at least it was in this instance.
