HTC EVO Rooted Ahead of the Incredible? WHAT!?

Shit happens ... no one owes you anything especially root

I can't stand when people say this..Did he say "OMG EVO ROOTED I AM OWED ROOT GIVE ME IT NOW!!!"? No he didn't he was just stating it kind of sucks and is weird that it got rooted first. Everyone wants root and is excited for root, I do not see in this thread where anyone says I AM OWED ROOT. So please shut up.

If Android was really "open" we would not need to root.

The Android OS and Goolge IS open. The nexus one can be rooted by just running a simple command and ships unlocked from the factory. However Verizon choose to futher lock down their devices, so THEY are not as open as android and google.

I find it funny that people like to blame google for htc and verizons shortcomings and blame htc and verizon for googles shortcomings. They each have their faults but most of the time they are blamed for the wrong issues.

Well said, I think too often we forget that manufacturers and carriers put their "stamp" on something changing behavior and flexibility!

THANK YOU.

If you think about it, Google gave these out to some pretty knowledgeable devs at their conference. So its not that surprising that they got it rooted before the Incredible.

No he's saying the people they handed them out to were developers. So they naturally had the urge to dive right into it and see what they could find. Not to mention they didn't pay for it, and some probably won't even activate it as they don't want to switch carriers.

I thought they were pre-activated and included 30 days of free Sprint service. This is the main reason I expected all of them to have fun with it.

Was that only the attendees who purchased the Evo early with a discounted rate?

No, he's saying that top developers have received Evo at their disposal, so they were able to develop root. While, out of those 5000developers, not all of them have Incredible.

Thank you. That's exactly what I'm saying. Its like giving cavemen tools. Obviously they are going to figure out tricks on how to utilize them. People that go to Google I/O aren't your typically batch of tech geeks. These are people that have been working with computers and other electronic devices for quite some time and know the ins and outs (hacks). So naturally, if you give them a device for free, they are going to wait to exploit it to the best of their ability.

I wouldn't worry about it, the Incredible will get root and unlike another phone that took a long time (Eris) the Incredible has a lot more people interested in it. It's the Best Android phone on Verizon it will have a lot more Devs working on it and eventually it will get root and until then enjoy a phone that is almsot perfect from the factory
