At CES they announced the Monsoon Multimedia Vulkano, and they website said that it was coming in April, then May, and now it says Summer 2010.

They are worse than the 2.1 release ;)

And another product, called Tivit, haven't heard or found anything about them online since then

Was it just smoke and mirrors to gather interest?

If they wanted to make publicity for the products that are not ready, why not just leave them at a bar stool ;)

Often times companies will go to a trade show like CES with a proof-of-concept in order to gain interest in investors or to look for a possible buyout for their product/idea. Unfortunately, just because a product is at CES does not mean that it's going to make it to market on time, or even at all. There are MANY concepts or proof-of-concepts that are displayed at CES. Because of its fairly recent popularity, and coverage by gadget blogs and the like, many people often forget that at its roots, its still just a trade show.

It's no different than any trade show really. I have played high profile games at E3 that never where released. Starcraft:Ghost comes to mind. Alan Wake was originally supposed to be PC only, now it is X-Box only...

That said, I have been waiting for the Vulkano as well. I was going to purchase, but if Slingbox get's their Android client out first, I will just stick to my Sling Solo...
