2 things I HATE about the Hero

Overall I love the Hero. I get awesome battery life and I love the HTC Sense mod.

#1 I hate the fact that the hardware buttons are not capacitive and the menu button powers on and then unlocks the phone on 2nd press. This could be remedied by using the gesture unlock pattern but is just a pita to swipe to unlock THEN gesture to unlock. Im always finding myself hearing a phone press or dial because the menu button has been hit twice while in my pant pocket.

#2 Unless I am doing something wrong. Cut and paste is TERRIBLE. there is no text select aid and capacitive screens have poor accuracy. You can use the trackball to place the cursor accurately but no way to accurately select text.

I agree. Although the copy and paste can be overcome with practice. Why don't you try to Lock 2.0 app? It's an add-on and you get an iPhone themed lock screen.

I dont think practice will do much. I'm coming from 10+ years on winmo and the cut and paste was nit that great but resisitive screen and stylus made it easy. Out of at least 50 tries on webpages for c&P and i dont think I have ever gotten a clean one. always had to clean up the erroneous text in the paste.....

I'm going to the Droid so hopefully I wont see the same issue but if I do i'll check lock 2.0 out. Thanks!

The Droid runs Android 2.0 so the lock screen will be different. Do bare in mind that the HTC Hero will too be getting the latest Android firmware. Your lock issues will be sorted then.

Copy and paste is something you could get used to mate. I agree it can be annoying but stick with it. The Droid is a good phone, but I do believe the Hero is still better. Multi-touch is a must for me and the Droid lacks that.

Its weird that it doesn't have multitouch.
Does multitouch mean that you can use more than 2 fingers aswell? Also, are there any games you know which use multitouch on the hero?

It does have a multitouch screen. Android 2.0 now supports multitouch natively, but they have not implemented it. Hero has a multitouch screen but android 1.5 does not support it, but the apps HTC have developed (unified email inbox, browser, photo viewer) have the mutitouch pinch and zoom gestures. I can only assume Moto/google did not want to implement it out of the box for some legal reason because it is idiotic not to implement them otherwise....
