First post and i am pissed as is the others i see. Sprint technical support is nothing more than customer svc reps reading off a script that have no answer to what the real problem is. I did the update friday and my phone has been powering off like every 10 minutes for 2 days straight . I even took it to a sprint *coughsh#&cough* store and they reloaded "their store version " of the update and assured all problems were fixed (yeah right ) . No more than a hour later phone still powering off. I called again and they sent me another new phone which i just updated . I can only hope this works or i will be rolling over to the dark side "apple I-phone" by early next week and demanding a full refund from sprint and canceling all 4 of my family lines !

i am also pissed although mine is differant.. I have no audio so i cant hear others and they cant hear me, heck i cant even hear the phone ringing on my end when i call out.. They are ordering me a new phone and i should have it friday. At this point i hope it comes with 1.5 and i will stay there. This is so not worth it. I really need to have my phone for calling people..UGH

Well gents,

One day in and my refurbished replacement hero is at best working with no major issues. It only froze up once today so I took the battery out and all has been good since then . *Warning to HTC corporation who i know is reading these awesome posts * If my hero acts up again no doubt me and my family of phones will be moving to a city called "Apple I-phone heaven " paying much more of course but man .....no dam phone worries and probably a bit faster . For now I am still loyal but not holding my breath so fix the dam bugs and phones already .

Sincerely,

One upset brutha !

Dallas , Tx ...stand up !

Ha! The sprint rep I talked to was shocked to hear that people on the forums were complaining about the update! He said NONE of them have had any problems. He was so surprised to hear my phone was being buggy. He also offered to send me a refurbed phone. He did go on and on about the Evo coming out in June though.

Wow that sucks. My leak version of 2.1 had some issues but since I went with the official version I have very few issues. Is the phone in your pocket when it powers down?

Which leak? The latest? If so, it is the same thing....

Wonder if reinstalling helped you, might be worth a shot to try and fix my issues.

Battery life is kinda weak, so much lag in landscape mode that I can't use it.
I was thinking of buying and EVO, but I may just bail on HTC completely if this is the way their phones run. My hero is only about 2 months old too....sad

Well, I have not had any *knock on wood* problems since installing 2.1 I installed the leak a long time ago and then installed Fresh's 2.1.1. Tried 2.1.2 today, but really don't care for it too much as of yet, so I rolled back to 2.1.1. Now as the Sprint Tech Support goes, there are idoits in every job in \America today. As for reading off a script, I just want to defent them in that. Tech Support does not read off a script except when they say hello in that certain way. I was a Blackberry and Treo tech. I may have known more than the average tech since I have owned both phones since they first came out. I now own a Hero, and have hacked it like every other phone I have owned. I just don't think it is fair to blame a Sprint Tech Support Rep for some lemon technology. Just like everything in life, there are lemons. If you don't like the Hero and keep complaining about it, Shut Up and go buy a different phone. The EVO is out in 2 weeks. I just get tired of hearing people complain about their phone not operating correctly and blaming reps for the issue. Try other options. Use a custom ROM. They are more stable anyways. Anyways, hope I didn't upset too many people. I'll get off of my soapbox now.

Guess i spoke to soon or put a jinx on my azz cause the dang phone just powered off for the second time today !

When you got your replacement, did you get a new battery with it, or did you get the old battery? Sprints replacements don't usually come with a new battery. If you old battery was bad, your phone could be shutting off from an impact related issue. Slap the back of your phone on the palm of your hand a few times (not too hard). If it powers down from that, you need a new battery.

The refurbished phone did come with a battery as well but that did not help at all. I feel like i am being held hostage by my carrier and by HTC. I have never been though anything like this in my life . My phone is almost powering off every hour now and I do not have it in my pocket when it powers off . The only difference i noticed is that It has not shut off when i am talking as it did on the pevious phone after the update .

i have 2.1 on hero. my phone calls take forever to dial out and bluetooth doesnt work in my car anymore. plus trying to load messages takes forever. im so pissed and want to go back to 1.5 but dont know how. idiot rep on tech support said a hard reset will take it back to 1.5 and she was so confident bc she looked it up. i feel so bad that we are smarter than these reps. they dont know anything. so stupid.
i guess this suffering is good bc than the evo will feel so much more amazing im sure with the 1ghz processor which can handle 2.1 much better im sure. last chance for sprint with the htc evo.
otherwise its off to the iphone after 13 years with sprint.
