What Apps Are Safe To Shut Down To Conserve Battery

I am having a battery issue since DC 2.08.1. I have shut everything off and turned down the brightness on the screen. I'm curious how to use the application manager to shut down programs that are running in the background. But I don't recognize the applications that are running and I'm afraid to shut down something that is needed. The only one I saw was Google Talk and I shut it off but I was wondering what other apps were safe to shut down. Can anyone make a recommendation on things to shut down?

On the flip side of that how do you turn them back on once they have been secured.........

Thanks for your help........

Hi Lisa. If you are having battery issues, I would start by download and installing SpareParts. You can use this to tell you what is keeping your phone awake. In addition, if you could please go to settings>about>battery and tell us what your Up Time/Awake Time is and what the list of Apps that is shows with Percentages. Once you do this, we can probably be of more assistance. In addition, use SpareParts to find out what has been using the battery since last unplugged.
