It sounds too good to be true. It fits in with all rumors about TMO wanting to push this phone but it still seems too good to be true. If true makes this phone worth its price.

Here is another place that I read this. The Slide is specifically mentioned so I would expect it. Hopefully HTC delivers unlike Samsung. (I'm a Behold II owner)

When I went to the Tmo store I noticed that there were none out on display. I was really disappointed because I thought that the store hadn't gotten them yet. Then I saw the guy pull one from a back room to sell to this girl who was trying to decide on a phone. When it was my turn I told him how I almost thought they didn't have them and I was disappointed. He told me that they were allowed to start selling them on the 2nd (that day) but that they were not doing ANY advertising, displays, NOTHING until the 19th because there was some big deal happening then but he didn't know what. Now, I'm reading (speculation of course) that HTC is planning to roll out Froyo on the 19th. Coincidence?

Hmmm, I wonder if the bogo would apply to financed handsets too? If so, I'll take this one back within my 14 days and go back on the 16th.

I believe it does. I'm actually going back on the 16th to exchange for a red one most likely... assuming they have one.

They don't send very many red ones to the stores until then, but they are out. You'll have better luck getting it online/customer service than through the stores until the 16th.

For example, the local store here was only given two red ones, and of course they were the first ones to go.

Well first of all I need to mention that i originally meant to put the 19th not the 16th (I've updated my first post), secondly it may not sound right to you, but it likely is right. the bogo is not currently for the slide so If they gave it to you that's cool, you really lucked out. There are only limited numbers of the phone in the first wave (hence the shortage of the red) so salesman cannot offer bogo on it until second wave on or around the 19th believe it or don't. There are also rumors that it might be a buy one get two free, but it is not going to be a software update or another new product launch.

Sorry to make this my first post (Im a lurker, I just read, and dont ask questions... )

TMo on the 19th is having a Fathers Day Special. If you Add a line, or Open a new account, you get a Phone for FREE (HTC HD2, Slide, or other high-mid phone).

Atleast, thats the rumor going around (There are screenshots for flyers and Commercial Scripts for actors).

Because before everyone knew it was a free phone event, it was speculated that it was a mass update day.

I will check the phone when I get to the party, but my brother is claiming that his G/F just picked up a slide on the father's day promotion, and it has 2.2 on it already. I would tend to trust him since he is an avid Android user, but I will still verify when I see it and post here if confirmed...

**EDIT** As soon as I got to the party I went into phone version information...It's 2.1 update 1...Sorry about that... Apparently the sales guy told them it had 2.2...

i just picked up a red mytouch slide and its running android 2.1 update 1 so i doubt its getting 2,2 anytime soon
