Just turned my phone on, and I have a notification on my phone saying the SD is blank, and gives me an option to format it?

The notification reads: "SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem"

Anyone know what wrong? I dont even have the option to mount it to my PC, just charge and sync.

Try unmounting the sd card in settings and removing it from the phone, and then put it back in and see if that helps

Sometimes, the phone corrupts the SD card and it becomes unreadable (by the phone and by Windows).

But I found a solution to "restore" the SD card to its original state (I had the problem with 2 differents SD cards with my HTC Hero).

1) Install this tool on your computer : SD Formatter 3.0 (Beta) for SD/SDHC/SDXC - SD Association
1) Mount the SD card (notifications on the phone).
2) Don't click any button if Windows displays a pop-up (where it asks you if you want to format). Let this pop-up opened.
3) Open the Panasonic tool and format your SD Card (Quick format is working well).
4) Close the pop-up (if applicable).
5) Unmount the card in the notifications.
6) Remove the card and reinsert it in the phone.
7) Now, it should be correctly detected !

I posted this in the "who got the update?" thread but I think it got lost ;)

I have a 2.1 OTA unrooted Eris. I received the OTA update last night and everything went fine. The problem is that now my notification bar says "Blank SD card SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem." I didn't remove it before installing the update since the email I received from Verizon didn't suggest this.

I know everything is still there because all of my pics show up in the right places and videos in my text messages still run. I really don't want to lose everything on my memory card but don't know what to do.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.

As was suggested for reinert012, try unmounting the card in settings, then reseat it by taking it out, and putting back in the phone.

If that doesn't work, you can connect your phone to your PC, copy all the data you want to save such as pix and music etc, then format the card and copy all your data back on from your machine.

Most SD Card issues can be resolved simply by reseating the card

Thank you...When I go to Settings, 'Unmount SD card' is gray and can't be selected, my only choice is Format SD card. What would happen if I just remove battery and sd card and then remount?

That would lead me to believe that your SD is already unmounted. Remove and replace, I bet it will work fine. If not, looks like you'll have to format it.

Phew, well, I removed sd card, reinserted and same message. I came home from work, removed sd card again, put it in my pc, error reading card. I took it out, put the sd card back in my phone and it's fine...go figure! I have no idea what happened but I did back up to my pc.

Thanks for your help Puddlejumpernva and Hypo Luxa; crisis averted ;)

When I reboot my phone, the sd card starts working again.
